Chapter 73: Coast to Coast

Calvin takes the band-aidio from the strip of paper, and applies it to his left wrist, as Alice patiently explains them to Syl.

"So... what's the specs on these things? Range? Encryption? And how durable are they?" As Alice discusses the need to keep the operation under wraps, he looks at his bright white-and-red costume and frowns. Sitting in the car, he starts peeling it back off, to reveal the jeans and t-shirt he's wearing underneath.

"This might be a bit more subtle." He folds his costume up and sets it on the seat, vaguely feeling that he might end up never wearing it again.

Looking between the stronger than normal injured Travis, Long, and Avi, Gabe shakes his head and says "So long as he doesn't lash out with property damage like Brutal, I think we will manage." Gabe then pauses as he thinks to himself I'm almost more worried as to how he will behave if she is there... Looking back at the team, Gabe says "So, powers I should be aware of?"

"I understand but still do not know how it is going to work for me as it not stick to my energy field and in the light form I not have any physical body for it to stay on. I see losing these all time." Sylwia responds as she holds on to it but does not put it on.

Trevor loonked at Gabe and shook his head, " Not on purpose. That is more Ashley's forte when she changes into Kodiak. I just set things on fire."

Avi scowled and looked at Trevor, "At least let me heal you on the way, you stubborn bastard. Long or Gabe, one of you okay to pilot this thing?" He added, motioning to the SUHV.

As the threesome got ready to go, Cal got a bit of a shock as Beth was suddenly talking to him as if she was there," Alice, I set up two channels so the teams won't cross over. I just picked something up on the scanner from the airport. Dumb and Dumber may not pull things off as smooth as they planned. I'll keep you updated."

Alice is quiet for a moment as she thinks about Sylwia's point and then says, "I don't know anything about your alternate form to really be able to comment. Can you please try to wear it?" Alice shows how she wears her behind her ear. "if it doesn't work, we'll try to find an alternative."

"Gabe why not you take the wheel? Truth is I never learn how to fly one of these things."

Sylwia hearing the order has no arguments as she puts on the Bandadio and puts it behind her ear. "I turn into a, um..." She starts while searching for how to explain this in English. "A form of light I am guess is the right way to speak it. It has hard or not hard form where things pass through me and clothes fall off. It be really neat and I not know if Calvin explain it better then I do. Sylwia finishes as she waits to see if Calvin has anything to interject.

Calvin understands both women, but he's eager to get the job started.

"Let's try this..." He reaches over and peels the band-adio off the strip and walks over to Syl. He reaches out and gently brushes her hair away from her ear, and applies the band-adio in place. He smiles at her.

"Not bad - can't even see it, really. Now, why don't you try switching forms, and see if it stays in place? This way we don't have to try and guess and explain. We'll just see."

(going to ff a bit. Both teams would have gotten an introductory explanation that band-adios use an encrypted government frequency that piggy backs off cell towers but to anyone trying to intercept, the signal would only show up as noise because of the frequency used)

Alice's team arrived without hitting much traffic, and found it to be a bungelow hidden behind a hayfield for a front yard and a for sale by owner sign on the front yard.

Long's team found the address after having to circle a bit due to traffic from a construction site. When they did arrive, the address was for a convenience store. Avi was taking amnap, and Trevor seemed much better, as he sat up and scowled," You guys sure this is it?"

Sylwia accepts the bandadio on her ear not sure if it will stick or not but decides that a field test would be better then in the vehicle this way it is on for now. When they arrived Sylwia not knowing the lay of the land just looks to see what the rest says.

Long gets on the band-aid-io again.
"Beth, were you able to find anything about this convenience store we are at? Schematics? History? Maybe also find out what the construction that is nearby is working on?"

Gabe looks at the convenience store, then the address, then the convenience store as he puts on his band-aid-io on his left hand as he says "Well, unless the GPS is faulty, then this is the correct address...Still, not the strangest place to set up shop i've ever seen."

Calvin climbs out of the car and takes a look around. "So, Alice... What's the play? What're we looking for, exactly?"

When Alice did not answer right away, Beth's voice popped into everyone's ear, " I double checked the address. You guys are where Rusty said was one of the two addresses the Doctor might be." There was click at the end of her transmission, as if she had cleared the channel

Hileah Park

It took a moment before Beth answered, " Sorry Long, but you should be looking at a split level single dwelling according to city plans. These were updates six months ago, so there should be no store." There was a pause. " Construction work order is for water main replacements and running new gas lines."

Avi woke with a yawn, then helped Trevor from the car. " What did I miss?"

Alice replies, "If we can find this Doctor fellow, hopefully we can find some answers."
