Personality Profile: Vex is a free spirited young pilot that means well, but can be a little hard to manage. He was always a fun loving young man, but it only got worse when he discovered he was a pretty good at speeder racing. Not as prestigious as swoop racing, landspeeders were less difficult to work on and much more customizable by the drivers. He won a few races, but spent just as many trying to put what was left of his XP-38 back in one piece after a wreckless manoeuvre ended badly. Still, it kept him out of trouble growing up and gave him an opportunity in his later teens to travel the system a bit as he went to Talus' sister world Tralus and later Corellia to compete in bigger race circuits. He never went anywhere with the racing, but it gave him a taste for space flight. That taste hooked him.
He considered joining CorSec , but knew the Imperial Academy was more likely to accept his application. He made it halfway through when he finally had enough of the Imperial prejudices towards him because of his skin. He headed back home and took jobs flying intersystem freighters. One such job ended up being a Rebel attempt to smuggle weapons off Corellia, which he didn't discover until an Imperial Cruiser showed up and pursued them. Vex managed to lose the cruiser, and the Rebels recruited him without much effort.
Before long he was transferred into Starfighter command, proving himself to be a competant but somewhat wild pilot. In other words, a typical pilot from the Corellian system. One such adventure over Mygeeto cost him his foot when he crashed his X Wing into a wingman intentionally to prevent the other pilot's damaged fighter from being drawn into the planet's atmosphere and probable death. His actions caught attention of commanders, and he was recruited into the newly formed Rogue Group. Problem was he was still recovering from his surgery and was not cleared for flight status when Echo Base was discovered and did not have a replacement X Wing for him and Late to escape in, so he had to find another way off planet.
