Issue 20: A Well Deserved Rest

DD doesn't really want to disturb their dinner but he didn't know what else to do.(I am not sure either) He smiles in the direction of the voice of Tabby, "I am glad you like them. Very few people get to try them."

Turning to Mary Jane he says, "thank you so much for the invitation. I think though that I will leave that up to my lovely date. Actually if you excuse us for a moment there is something I wanted to talk to Mr. Parker about."

He walks away signalling Parker to follow him, not far but out of earshot of the table. He whispers to Parker, "Mystique just left, she was talking to Hammerhead about a detonator, and having some place rigged. I am not sure if its this one. Also Hammerhead has his people going after a club run by someone named Masque."

Pausing from relating his story he decides to try and detect if there is a bomb in the building.

He knows the smell of food may be plentiful, but he hopes he can pick up any lingering smell of explosives."

As Peter and Matt conversed about developments, Tabitha got up from the table and passed the two of them with their plates in hand. She sputtered as she passed, "No need to convince him, Mr. Parker, I'm smart enough to take a hint." She returned to her original table and sat down, ignoring the growing number of stares. Peter didn't need spider senses to know he was getting a stare of his own from his table.

As he thought about it, Matt was certain he smelled the trace odor of semtex, though now that he thought about it, it was strongest by Hammerhead's table, but even there it had not been strong.

[Captain America and Blink]

Chris staggered back as Cap hit him, but didn't go down as blood flew from what was left of his nose and dropping the pistol in the process. "Nice sucker punch, jerk." He started to take a step towards Steve, but was on his back in an instant as Colleen leg swept his feet out from under him gracefully. He hit with a thud and cradled the back of his head. Meanwhile Sharon intercepted the club operators, explaining it was official business.

Tony Stark smiled at Blink as he offered her a hand to get up. "Young lady, first Sabertooth and now this fine upstanding citizen, you have a knack for picking them, don't you?"

[She Hulk and Aura]

Melissa turned back from watching Tally to face Jen and froze, " Tearing this place apart may be the worst of our worries. Look over your left shoulder and tell me if that is Crusher Creel sitting at the bar." She sighed, " This is going to get ugly, isn't it?"

As the DJ started Aura's requested tune, the track quickly began and the dance floor filled back up, along with cheers for her to start singing


[Wolverine and Shadowcat]

"I'll let Tony explain how we set Cap up, thought I'm sure in Tonys words it was all my idea" Clint said as the bartender brought thier drinks.

Erik spoke up, though clearly not comfortable doing so, " I heard that there is a Maggia turf war brewing, between Hammerhead and Madam Masque. Just before We tangled with the new Masters, I was approached by one of Hammerheads goons to see if I wanted to make a quick buck doing some demolition. I wasnt, but I said Id think about it. I got a email sent to me earlier this evening that some other heavy hitters were gathering later tonight, and Clint told me Hammerhead was in town for a contract, so we figured he was on the same payroll. Since this is pretty close to the edge of the turf border, we figured a good place to meet, right? The rest of the girls are next door in the club and Cap is on his way soon, so it's just a quick call for Others once the fun begins. Right?"

"See Erik, that wasn't so bad, was it?" Clint patted their teammate on the back.

Tally is actually enjoying this with naught a care in the world at this time and unless someone stops she goes into another song not even thinking about what should be something shared. Looking through the next song she tries to continue to sing and this time Gwen Stephanies - What you waiting for.

They were right, this is a perfect way to have fun and the most fun I have pretty much ever had. She thinks between the sips on her pop before starting the next song.

Katherine quietly sips her ginger ale while listening to Erik, taking in the situation. Once done, she merely nods, then looks to Logan. "Looks like our vacation is over." the young woman murmurs, sighing just a little.

Turning back to Erik, she inquires, "Was there any mention of what the target might be?"

"The Sabertooth I know is not like yours." she looked for moment at tony, "My realities Victor Creed was responsible for raising me, and he won't admit it openly but I changed his out look on life alot. Suppose children do that to people." as she took tony's hand. "As for Chris..I was just being polite.It was his call to pull out the gun..and I would have been happy to let him walk if he'd been polite and not over reacted." she shrugged.

"So what brings you here? not enough women in the mansion?" she joked. looking for a cloth and some ice

"You wanna stay quiet for now and try not to over react." she told chris as she handed cloth and some ice (should she have found some) to chris, "here for you nose.." she didn't have any genuine dislike for him and held no grudges for henchmen. most of her life she was around people who had vendettas and it didn't help them any. In all likely hood people like chris weren't worth hating....plenty of people to hate one more was not needed. then she went back to tony.

"Ho boy." Jen says, "I think I need something stronger now."

Jen casually looks about for Creel to see where he is sitting. The Absorbing Man, the guy who gives people like Thor and her cousin, the Hulk, trouble. "It kinda looks like him. I never took him for a clubbing kinda guy."

First Madam Masque, now Creel, things in this club were getting hotter then even She-hulk expected.

"I think we better regroup before he tries anything."

Steve lets Blink handle it while looking to Colleen, then Sharon to get an update.

Peter looks over to MJ and says "I...uh...that didn't come out right. I meant 'Oh! There's someone new! Exciting!' Well, anyway, its official. There's bad guys in the building. Something dumb will happen any moment now... Dumber than what I just did."

[Dome]

DD thinks, 'that light smell of explosives could mean he planted some somewhere.'

He then makes his way to his original table with Tabby. He sits down, a frown on his face. "Tabby, I am so so sorry to leave you sitting for so long. That's not why though that I had to have words with Parker."

He then pauses and says, "not sure how much you know about my abilities, not only do I have this radar like echo location thing," he says in a low voice so only she can hear him. "my other senses are extremely hieghtened, Hearing, smell," he reaches out and touches her hand running a finger over the back of it, "touch," he pauses and says, "unfortunately sometimes these senese get in the way of things, like a personal life. I over heard some things tonight. Some known criminals were in here and it sounds like they were talking about some kind of bomb somewhere."

He sighs and says, "you have no idea how much I was looking forward to tonight. And I want nothing more than to spend the rest of my night, just the two of us. It pains me to say it though, I think I have to try and figure out who Masque is and what does she own, as it may be in danger very shortly," he says with a sigh.

There always is, and as much as I hate it sometimes, You know I'll be here when you get back saving the city again. At least I don't worry as much now that I know you have help." MJ released his hand and then went back to eating. "Would you like to know why she came over here? She wanted to apologize in case that silly picture in the papers of the two of you caused any problems. She seems like a nice girl, though she made me feel old when she kept calling me Mrs. Parker."

She raised her glass , but before she took a drink, she gave Peter a wink and said, "Eat up Tiger, you don't want that raw steak getting warm."


Tabitha shrugged, Ït's not that big a deal, and I assumed you had a good reason."Tabitha replied after letting Matt talk. Ï should have known better than to go over there and cause a scene, I only wanted to make sure I hadn't caused any issues for them with that stupid picture in the paper." She played with her food before taking another bite. "Melissa and Clint gave me their pocket phone numbers in case I needed to talk or things didn't work out. Why don't you call one of them? Maybe we can just stay put and they will look into it?" Her voice raised with optimism, clearly not wanting things to end either.

[Cap and Blink]

To Cap's surprise, Colleen was not a member of SHIELD at all, but private investigator Colleen Wing, who Cap now recognized with the lights on. "Sharon came to me for help. She needed someone who would be able to track down one of Hammerhead's goons in hopes to find out what was going on. There are so many rumors flying around, no one has any idea if any of them are true. either way, Madamn Masque has done something to disrupt the Maggia truce, and Hammerhead plans to make her regret it somehow."


Tony looked at Blink and winked, "I floored you, didn't I?" He walked over to Steve and held his hands out in a shrug and a sly grin, "This wasn't in the script."

Chris hesitated, then accepted the cloth from Blink and pressed it to his nose gently. His eyes closed as the ice gave him some relief and he sat down on the floor. "I can't tell you anything or Hammerhead will kill me."


[Shulkie and Aura]

As Tally starts her next song, she realizes that although most of the crowd are enjoying her performance, her two friends had stopped paying attention to her. Either one of them looked like they were having a good time anymore either.

Melissa nodded, "That's one heavyweight bouncer if you ask me. You think he's out here because of us?" She had pulled out her identicard to make a call, but paused and slid it across to Jen, " Crap. The big dummy keeps looking this way and..... oh gross, she's all over him. " Melissa looked away. " Guess Titania had to be somewheres, but I did not need to see that."


[Wolvie and Kitty]

Erik shook his head, "Not really, just to take one or two of her businesses apart. That and I wouldn't be doing it alone."

Clint added,"Where ever it is, I'm sure that it will be very public." He checked his watch, " Tony and Steve should soon be here."

"Oh I don't need to see that." Jen says as she takes the identicard. The thought of them absorbing each other was enough to make her cringe. She presses for all points and speaks into the card.

"This is She-Hulk. We got somethin strange going on at the club we are at. Seems Madam Masque is hanging out here and she's sporting some big time muscle to watch the place; and yeah, they know we're here..."

Tally can see that her cohorts look a little nervous but also flashes in her brain that the best action is possibly to keep everyone focused until such time as her skills are needed by continuing to perform for the enjoyment of the people there as they are innocent and keeping them safe would be the first concern anyway. In preperation she will try to get a light beam to copy and will even keep a glow to make a light show of it.

Kitty offers a quick nod to their hosts before taking another sip of her beverage. Cautiously, the young heroine takes a peek around the bar area, looking out for anyone else she may recognize.

Cap nods at Colleen's assessment as he looks towards Chris. "I think you're confused here. We can protect you from Hammerhead. The question is, do you want a lot of suffering on your hands before that happens?" Steve's steel blue eyes lock with Chris'.
