18. Earth

[Dome]

Flip shakes his head, "no you didn't miss anything, just checking things over."

He slowly turns around. He had been trying to look busy so as not to have to talk, but he didn't know how she would react to his simple subject avoidance maneuver. "MJ, about what happened on the station, I know I acted stupid and I'm sorry," he says to her. As he says it he realizes she had never said one word about it, and even then when he left to go do his own thing she hadn't even tried to slow him down.

He thinks, 'she'll probably have no idea what I am talking about. I think any chance at a relationship is just gone."

"What, you mean being anti-social?"McKenna smirked slightly, "because that's the only thing I can think of you need to apologize for. I'll be honest Flip, I can't figure you out at all. One minute I catch you looking at me like you're interested, the next time I feel like a plague carrier. No offense, but I worked with a guy back in the ambulances that wasn't into women and he gave clearer signals than you." She shook her head slightly.

[Dome]

Flip feels like a fool, "Yeah anti-social I guess." He pauses as he sips from his cup.

"You know I like you. I'm just having a hard time with this whole thing, especially since you told me about you and Jess. My mom always taught me that you find that special someone, you treat her like gold, you treat her as something precious, and she treats you the same. Its you and her against the world. Don't get me wrong, the idea of you and Jess together..." he blushes before continuing, "but I am trying to get my head around the fact that i can be with you, as long as I am willing to share. Your so amazing its worth the discomfort. I'm just not sure how to approach it."

"I had a weird dream on the station, that I think was related to this situation, it just through me off, and thats why I slammed down those drinks," He says, sipping and looking at her to see how she reacts.

McKenna froze, looking at Flip over the coffee mug." I'm sorry Flip. I didn't realize it was my fault. I thought.... I thought we had things worked out." She sighed. "Maybe that's why Jess has kept her distance too, and I've never been one to go after what I want. I just wish one of you would figure it out so I stop going through so many batteries....." she trailed off and clenched her teeth and eyes, wishing she hadn't said that last part.

On the Bridge

In the Hold Observation Area

"Alright..." The Lead Loader said, as Mensk went off to help. Turning back after he left, he says, "Eager, isn't he?"

After a second of mental counting, he says, "So, looks like we have everything loaded. We'll need your captain's sign-off, for the load and then we're done, here."

[Dome]

Flip shakes his head yet again, "I don't blame you for anything, and so you don't have to apologize. It was me, just stuff I had to sort out." He puts down his coffee mug and turns to her leaning forward hoping to catch her eye so he can look her eye to eye.

"Look me in the eye, I don't want there to be any mistake. I want you, anyway I can have you. And if that means I have to share you with Jess, well it may not be something I am used to, but I can live with that," he pauses, his face had been serious and passionate as he had spoken these words, now the cocky grin he got when he pulled off a last ditch manuever returned to his face as he added, "and when your with Jess, I wont even insist on watching, I'll just beg on occasion," the smirky grin turning into a full blown mirthful smile.

He purposely did not mention her comment on batteries, he was not trying to embarass her after all.

{OOC: Now while I had Flip purposely ignore her "batteries" comment, I cannot just let it go. I mean this is supposed to be the future, wouldn't technology have increased passed the point of batteries for those purposes? What about mini fusion reactors? Perpetual motion engines, or even lightsaber crystals? I would really think that batteries would no longer exist in the way we think of them and there were other means to power "personal electronics" }

McKenna did meet Flip's gaze, setting down the coffee cup away from anything vital. She didn't answer at first, then slid out of her seat and crossed the bridge until she reached the pilot's seat, only to lean in and kiss Flip softly.
As she broke the kiss, she smiled softly as she eased away. "I'm glad you to the time to think about it then."

[Dome]

Flip returns the kiss. After she breaks it he takes both her hands and brings them up to his lips and kisses them and says, "and for now, thats all we can do," a frown on his face, "hopefully we will both get some off duty time soon. I wont go off on my own next time, promise."

He pauses and then laughs, "wow can you believe we actually got through the whole conversation without being interrupted. I mean I would have thought for sure the Captain or Mensk would have shown up on the bridge by now."

He looks into her eyes again and pointing back to her seat he says, "can you please sit down over there before I do something I shouldn't on the bridge of a ship," his smile mischievous.

[Mierin]

Jessica nods and uses the comm to call the Captain down to the cargo pay to sign off on the delivery.

McKenna started chuckling and returned to her seat. " You better keep that promise, or I may not be so forgiving from now on." She winked as she slid into her seat, and ran her fingers through her hair. " We must soon be ready for takeoff. Too bad we don't have viewcams in the cargo hold to see how much Mengsk and Jess have to do."

[Dome]

Flip smiles warmly to her.

When she mentions the cargo holds, he says, "well tell you what. I have everything handled here until we are ready to take off. Why don't you head down and get an ETA from Jess, maybe find a minute to talk with her. Not sure if you and her have had a chance to sort things out like we just did."

He grabs a comms unit and hands it to her if she decides to go.

On the Bridge

Jessica's voice just rang across the comm, looking for the Captain.

In the hold viewing area

Jessica hears her voice in the speaker, though Tawfeek hasn't answered.

"Ï can do that." McKenna said with a nod, sliding out of her seat. she could help but jump as the comm unit came to life just as Fli handed it to her. She waited a moment, then shrugged to Flip and replied to Jessica," Jess, the Captain is in his quarters to rest under doctor's orders to hopefully get over a cold starting. I was going to check on him. Do you need him, or can you sign for him?"

[Dome]

Flip watched her jump at the sound from the radio. He smiles and is about to respond to Jess when MJ does. He sits back and looking at MJ he says, "do that little jump again," a smirk on his face.

[Mierin]

Jessica raises an eyebrow when McKenna answers her comm for Tawfeek, but she simply replies, "I'll take care of it, thank you, Doctor." MJ would know Jess well enough to realize she was just being professional in front of the employee with the cargo. Turning back to the lead loader, Jess explains, "The captain is unavailable. I can sign as second in command." Jess waits to see if the lead loader has any objections to this.
