(DO NOT POST TO THIS THREAD)
Six months ago, the world you knew slipped into darkness and the reign of the dead began.
It happened so fast that some survivors you've encountered are still reeling from horror of it. That awful day when the mysterious pandemic, now dubbed the Wave, slammed into the world's population. Most people died within moments of showing the first symptoms, while others suffered on for a few hours. The death toll was mind numbingly catastrophic, quickly spiraling into the millions. Unable to cope, man's fragile society imploded on itself. Fueled by desperation and panic, people turned on each other, adding to the chaos and carnage.
However, all was not lost. From this biblical tribulation, you and others like you stepped into the breach, and helped where you could and tried to save as many as possible. You fought on believing that no matter how bad it got, mankind would weather this deadly storm as always had before.
Then the other shoe dropped and the real nightmare began. You started hearing about it days after it started, fevered stories and rumors that the victims of the plague had started attacking people. You dismissed it as a product of hysteria until you saw the truth for yourselves: the people who died from the plague were reanimating and attacking the living. The zombie apocalypse had begun.
When the dead returned to life it happened all at once. Millions of zombies broke free form the places the bodies had been kept, the undead monsters hunting down and killing every human they could find, their broken bodies also rising and joining the ranks of the creeping doom. The decimated police and military fought back with the modern weapons of war, but they were no match for the shear number of this new enemy and were quickly routed. The wave of the damned swept through every city and every town around the world, consuming all they found. In mere weeks after the start of the Wave, a new darker age had begun on Earth.
Today, you are still alive. By skill, by the grace of providence, or by sheer luck, you survived both the Wave and the unending hunger of the dead. The world you knew is gone, but you are still here and you have chosen to keep fighting. You are of the few that possesses the key that will see humanity through this undead hell. It not your skills, fighting prowess, or fancy equipment that you have managed to scavenge from the ruins of society, although that does help. No, your strength lies in that you have not given hope. Hope, that little word we used to take for granted in our time of plenty before the end.
You mission now is to continue surviving. Everyday you stay alive, for every zombie you but down permanently, you thumb you nose at death. Whenever you can, you mean to share that message with every survivor you find and help. Humanity may be down but it is far from being counted out yet. Every survivor in the world is going to have do their part to end the dead's reign over the world.
The part you play starts in southern Arizona.
