Here's a few home brewed rules we'll be using in the game. Look them over and let me what you think.
CHARACTER GENERATION 1. Quick Character Creation option (DR p 159) is allowed.
2. 1st level characters, regardless of class, are allowed five Secondary Skills.
COMBAT 1. I'm tossing out the special rules for hitting a Zombie in the head and neck. Standard rules for Called Shots now apply and players are allowed full bonuses. You will still need to beat the AR 14 to hit.
2. Shotgun Damage: Buckshot does full damage to zombies.
3. Bow & Arrows do full damage to zombies.
4. Low Caliber Pistols: Same as described in DR p 109, but with this change: Successful strikes to the head to full damage. A .22 slug punching through a zombie skull could stand a chance of doing catastrophic damage as it bounces inside the skull.

Will buckshot give us any bonus to hit a small target, like a head, given shot-pattern expansion?

Buckshot does not grant any bonuses to hit, but if you succeed in your roll to hit, you might hit more then one target if they are grouped together. Which is likely in the case of zombies.
Bonuses to hit will come from skills and other variables, like how close your target is.

Perception rolls.
If you wish for you character to know what going on around him, you'll have to call when you are making them. I'll not be calling for them in the future.
Remember, gentle players. There really are people, and worse, out to get you.
1/24/13 - Getting a little carried away with the Perception rolls. You get one roll per post, that roll to take care of everything your doing at that time.

COMBAT SEQUENCE
Roll Initiative.
List what you are going to do with each attack during the round, up to your max number of attacks per your Hand to Hand skill. If you are attacking, roll to Hit and possible Damage to the target.
For each action, roll a Dodge. This will be used if you character is attacked.
Alternately, you can roll a Parry as it applies, for any number of times you want it to be used.

This is my fault. Farside is new to Palladium rules, especially with PBP games. We did some Rifts back in high school, but I didn't explain combat to him. Next time he's on, I'll explain the particulars.
