Chapter 68: Now to get outta here! (Team)

Isamu listens. He doesn't wish to take over this meeting it is Alice's meeting. If Ashley has decided they are staying he will just take Alice's lead, but he hopes Ashley has decided to go on their trip.

However, he was the one that reached out to help Trevor and Long, and although late, he was also able to find and help Deci too. He says, "I am glad we were able to help," looking down and with regret in his voice he adds, "I only wish that we had been able to prevent what happened to Allison and that we had stopped the Brethren sooner and prevented so much hurt," the last he said while looking at Deci, guilt dripping in his voice.

He then says to Alice, "I do not mean to take over, I just felt I had to say something. This is your meeting."

"I hope someone is planning on getting to it." Sara says, tapping her fingers on her arm. "Whats going that we got called into this meeting? Something important, right?"

[dakota]

"Hey, give Alice a break."Jason said defensively as Sara spoke, "We're still putting all the pieces together."

"Jas, relax would you? I don't think Sara meant anything by it." Avi said.

"Look, I'll fill in the background so you two lighten up." Trevor said. "Long and I went to the morgue to try to claim Allison's body, it wasn't there. There is no record of it ever being there. I know I brought a body out and Allison and I were the only ones staying there when the fire happened, so I assumed it was her. Now, I don't know what for sure.

Avi took over," Alice has found proof that the mayor's helicopter was in that vicinity, and Long reported a helicopter in the area at the time. We all know Siang is a scum bag but can't prove it, but it gives us a place to start. All we need is a plan."He looked at Alice and Isamu.

Ashley spoke up," Isamu and I are going to be leaving soon for my parents, so we won't be around to help."But the rest of you can handle this, right?"

"Sure. So is our plan to dredge up the swamp? And again, to restate my earlier question: Are there swamp monsters now? Giant talking alligators? Animated plant creatures?" Tom waits for the reaction. "What? I didn't know the government had secret super-operatives on its own soil until I met you - just figured I should check."

Deci stays silent throughout this all still mainly observing just to see what the others reactions are going to be to all this announcement although She still twitches when Ashley makes her announcement. Although she realizes now that her faith and love may have been misplaced and he is probably what he appears to be.

That means he is leaving and maybe my goals and desires will be listened too. That is if the other leader is fair. Which according to Trevor she should be. But she dares bring up going off on my own and patronizing me then she will be as bad as the others.

Siobhan leans back in her chair a little bit, listening to the chatter; I kinda wish I knew these people better... I don't feel their loss unfortunately. Does that make me a bad person...? Feeling a little antsy, like Sara, Siobhan finds her attention wandering a bit.

"What are we saying here? Is the mayor of Miami in bed with the Brethren?"

Alice shakes her head at Long, "To be honest, we're not one hundred percent sure about that. It appears there might be some kind of a connection though."

Alice nods at Ashley and says "We should be able to handle things while you're gone, don't worry." To the entire group, Alice continues, "Now that you have the background, we have several questions we need to find answers to: was the body that Trevor brought out with him Alison's? If so, where is she? If not, who is it and why would Alison's death be faked? The evidence could possibly be found at the cabin, but it's also possible that any evidence has already been removed and going back would be a waste of our time and resources." Alice says addressing one of Tom's questions and bites back the urge to sarcastically answer his other foolish questions. Looking over at Avi and Jason, Alice says to them, "Both of you have experience with this so any suggestions either of you have would be appreciated."

Alice then says to the rest of the team "That goes for everyone. The more minds we have tackling this, the better equipped we are at finding out what's going on, so any thoughts, suggestions or questions anyone has will be welcomed."

"Trevor and I were talking about this on the way back from the morgue. I was suggesting that whoever it was that spirited away Allison did not think it through all the way or did not have time to plant a permanent replacement body. Why go through all the trouble of faking her death if they did not want us to continue to think she was dead? . . . Unless that was the plan all along. Maybe Allison is in some kind of trouble and she was working with whoever did the fake death, but she wanted to make sure we came looking for her. So, she changed their plan some how.

Trevor spoke up, swallowing hard," That might have to do with the fact that when we caught up with Panek, he told us that Rusty told them that ity was Alice and Jason there, not me and Allison."He looked at Alice, "They didn't know you were out of the country."

Jason scowled,"That's comforting. Tom, no, plants yet, and the giant gator didn't talk, but I didn't hang around to have a conversation with it when it tried to eat me. "

"Rusty is still the key." Avi said. "We need to take her down to get the answers we need. Anyone know who the big guy was that lugged her off after we took down Deth?"

"Yeah," Jason said," but Sara isn't going to like it."He looked right at her. "don't know his real name, but he's the one that tried to hack Sara into itty bitty pieces, goes by the name Homicide. Real piece of work, but not sure of his angle with the Brethren."


Avi looked at Alice, "I'd say we need to split up. One group go check on the mayor's helicopter for evidence we can use and the other start tracking down Rusty. Long, you've obviously had some detective work training,so I'd suggest you take one team while Isamu is away, and Alice takes the other. If that's okay with you, Alice?"

"I'll warn you, he never lets you have any fun." Trevor smirked. " And whoever goes after Rusty better be a stacked team with lots of heavy hitters."

Jason looked at alice, " Pick your teams, oh fearless leader". He then looked over to Deci and gave her a slight nod.

Ashley spoke up. " what do you want Isamu and I to do until we have to leave?"

Avi shrugged," Pack?"

Tom smiles. "Man, this is like recess again where the cool kids pick teams for dodgeball. Ooh! ooh! Pick me!"

[bones]

"I would like to track down Rusty. And Trevor is right. If she is with Homicide then I will need the heaviest hitters on the team. I will take Trevor. Sara, are you up for a rematch? I will definitely need you Tom. I would also like to have Sierra and Kristian."
Turning to Alice, "Do you think that is too much?"

Tom raises his arm. "Yes! Picked!"

Sara when she hears Homicide name come up in the conversation and tied up with the Breathern; seems nothing he does is good for her or anyone else.

"Of course, I'm coming with you." Sara said. "I'd love to see what Homicide is up too now. Granted, the only reason he join the Breathern is because they are allowing him to do what he does best and that isn't going to be pretty.

"If we get tied up with him, let me deal with him."

Deci waits until she is picked and can see where this is going and after hearing the announcement knows where she will be placed, even though she almost wanted to go on Long's team. I am surprised he did not take the speedster. She says thinking to herself but not in charge will stay silent until she is spoken too.
