Ch. 20 Coming together

* Sierra closes the door .. and then checks it with a small rattle and a shove to be sure its locked tight, then turns and heads down the stairs. still silent and quiet, she gets to the main door and into the car with Avi and Jason, before muttering 'Klaxon? .. '

*then shrugs and buckles up this time with a simple 'so let's go already. he doesn't need to see me before he heads to work' then she's looking at the the toes of her boots. a simple plea for i don't wanna talk about it.

Alice looks at William, a bit confused. "You want someone to go buy you comic books?"

"Yes." William says. "We need better uniforms. And we need to maintain a high opinion of the people that see us. And the best way to get positive reception is positive association. We remind people of classic comic book heroes, they'll be more disposed to think of us as such." With a smirk, he adds. "I though you were in journalism."

[Mierin]

Alice feels her face flush as she answers "I am. I just didn't know if you were serious about wanting comic books or if you were just kidding." Standing up, she says "I'll go get them if you want."

Will hands over some money. "Perfect. Trever, Craig, go with her. I want team comics, super-hero stuff. Whatever kids are into these days. Get a variety of names so we know what we have to choose from."

[Mierin]

Alice takes the money from Will and heads outside to wait for Trevor and Craig to join her.

Smirking, Craig says, "And all this time I was concerned we would be conducting life or death type missions. If we need back-up, we'll give you a call."

Chuckling to himself, Craig follows Alice outside hoping Will understood that he was trying to make a joke about his prior concern, not about his idea.

At least I don't have to worry about this mission being outside of my capabilities, he thinks.

* Sierra looks over at Avi and then to the front window before looking back. "what? was it something i said? i just remembered, i'll have to call work and let them know i'm not coming back. not that they really need me"

"Tyler," Isamu whispers, "In the past when she comes out here what have you done? Just leave her be? Or monitor her until she reverts to normal?"

Then he yells out to Ashley, "I do not want to leave you like this."

" You really don't want to know. It'll probably bother you." Tyler replied.

" " JUST GO!" Ashley replied as a beachball sized rock flew out the entrance to emphasis her point.

" Klaxon? what's he doing here?" Jason replied as he hung up his phone, looking at Sierra. He gave Avi an odd look, to which Avi replied quickly," No way Jas. You heard Will. This is just a chance for Sierra to get her stuff."

Jason shrugged. " Just thinking we could use the recon." At the same time, Sierra's itch grew. Jason's grin dropped. " Too late."

"Hi folks. Want to come out and play?" Asked Raig as he leapt onto the hood of the car.

Jason's phone rang, and he answered it with a hush. " Not right now. we're about to be busy." and hung up.

Trevor was the last one out. " This is lame. What does reading comics help us with?" He sputtered as he got in the back seat of Avi's mustang.

" Will, I got through, but Jason hung up on me." Janie said and then played the recording of the call for him. " I think they have a problem."

Isamu sees the boulder come flying out, and Steps to the side to be sure to not get hit by it.

"Ashley, where will I go? You are all I have in this city at the moment, and you want me to walk away from that. I cannot, I am sorry."

*rolls down the window and leans the head out far enough to make the following comment [law - general 37/43] - " .. uhm excuse me sir .. ' *waves her hand to get his attention on just her and hopes that the others can think of something else and that no one starts laughing at her attempt to diffuse the situation before it gets out of control*

'you are aware that not only is that a really dangerous place to stand on, but its also considered to be 'trespassing. and IF the owner wanted to actually press charges it might be ... how you say ... uncomfortable for you to have to change your outfit to dress like a normal person going to court to carry out the whole silly thing of standing on a cars hood ... right? not to mention so would i. and if asked, i'ld have to point you out as the gentleman who, like myself, would be dressed in really itchy and uncomfortable clothing to blend in... cause right now? .. its just a simple case of trespassing now. so lets just leave it at that ... k? .. thanks ... " *gives him an open and trusting smile, seeing nothing wrong in her actions*

*trying to get him to 'trust her' and to 'impress/charm him' enough to take the wind out of his sails long enough for us to get the car moving off .. k a REALLY risky chance, but SHE has NO clue about how dangerous he really is, just knows he's a mutant. hey .. manners and polite discussion might just work long enough to get us out as he puzzles and then laughs about what she's said.

[god .. talk about a long-shot, but who knows ... *crosses fingers and hopes it works and we get out without more than a polite discussion* .. LOL ... rolled a 98% against his possible PB factor affecting her ... *chortles with evil intent*]

Alice shrugs at Trevor as she slips into the driver's seat of the mustang. "I don't know." she replies as they wait for Craig to get into the car. "Maybe Will wants fashion tips." She jokes quietly, getting the car started and once Craig gets in, she heads out of the parking lot. "So where is the best place to go?" she asks both of them.

"Call him again." William says, running up the stairs to the war room. "And give me the phone."

Janie nodded and rediallled. She put Jason on speaker phone he answered. " Look, I'll check in as soon as we get clear of our uninvited guests here." His statement was emphasized with the rake of a shotgun slide, but he didn't hang up.

" Sierra, that itch must be going to your brain." Avi said as Jason answered his again ringing cellphone.

Avi reached alongside his door and brought up his shotgun, as Jason answered." Look, I'll check in as soon as we get clear of our uninvited guests here." He said as Avi pumped the weapon, pointing it at the windshield.

Taken completely offguard, Raig's eyes grew wide at the sight of the shotgun, and he hopped down, still blocking their path. " Good thing you left your suit home, Jas."

A groan came from the back seat. At the same time, Sierra could feel her itch growing.

" I don't know, a newstand maybe? Or a bookstore at the mall?" Trevor replied, looking out the side as they drove. " I think I'd sooner where combat fatigues than flashy colored spandex." He then looked at Alice in the mirror with a mischevious look. " You know though, female comic characters usually don't wear much. This may not be so bad after all."

" TYLER, GET HIM OUT OF HERE!" Ashley roared, but Ty shook his head. " Sorry Ash, Isamu is right, we can't leave you alone. You know that."

"FINE, THEN I'LL HAVE TO CHANGE YOUR MINDS" She roared and stalked towards them with her claws drawn. Her fur was mottled with blood stains, and it was hard to tell how much of it was hers. With teeth bared, she growled and swiped at Ty, barely missing him before turning her attention to Isamu and letting out a deep gutteral roar that echoed in the cavern behind her.
