Ashley laughed so hard she started snorting, quickly covering her mouth embarasedly. " Jaws isn't a person, silly. It's the nickname for the break at Peane (sp?). My folks live a hour from Honalulu. It's called Jaws because the shallow reef will bite you like a shark if you wipeout. " she explained.
Felicia walked passed, and gave Alice a curious look, but kept going towards the communal sleeping room while talking on her own cell. " Thats right, 4 dozen sheets of 1/2" plywood and four hundred board feet of 2 by 4's. Oh and a box of 1 inch nails. How soon could have that rush delivered? Yeah I know it'll cost... " Her conversation faded as she went around the corner into the sleep room."

Alice smiles weakly at Felicia as she passes, but doesn't say anything since Felicia is talking on her cell phone. She then gets up and goes upstairs to put Jason's cell phone with the rest of his stuff.

"Oh you mean something to do with water. I do not care for to much. I learned how to swim, but when you can turn into a large bolder you tend to try and avoid large bodies of water. Do you feel better now that you have eaten? Would you like to see my staff?"

I'm thinking, I don't know, serious vigilantism stuff. Meth lab, you know, to help with the trademark? That way, Wraith can find his way to me fairly easily. And Dmitri... the minute we spot Wraith, Dmitri tags the place and leaves. Then, comes back with extra troops."

Ty shrugged with a smirk. " Alright, we can do it your way. how about hitting Terri's dad then, we kinda owe him.. Leo gave me the rundown on some of his operations just in case. No drugs, but their into just about everything else."
" See your what?"Ashley looked at Isamu quizzically as she polished off another apple. " Sure, why not. And it's called surfing. you should try it someday, it requires alot of focus and balance. Should be right up your alley." She went to the fridge and grabbed another apple. " Only problem with my bug collection is they're alway hungry."
Alice finds Jason's things sprawled on a bunk, his exo-suit lying on top and plugged in. alone, the firehouse seems surprisingly quiet for the number of people there until she could make out someone singing a passable rendition of the Rolling Stones' Paint it Black. It sounded like it was coming from the bathroom and after a closer listen, she realized it was Jason.

Alice grins to herself when she realizes that it's Jason singing in the shower as she places his cell phone on top of his things where it can easily be seen. She then goes over to the bunk beside his (or the nearest empty one) and lies down on it, letting herself relax a bit. Despite her best intentions to not fall asleep as per William's instructions, Alice's eyes slip shut and she finds herself drifting off to sleep as she lays on the bunk.

A creak on the floor betrayed Jason rolling into the room, folloeowed by a brief hushed exchange. " How long's she been sleeping?"
" Fifteen minutes or so. Poor thing must've heard your catewailing."
"Shut up Fel. It's better than yours."
A hmph ended the conversation, though Jason was snickering as he stopped at his bunk.

"My bo staff. It is the weapon of choice for those whose mastery is in the style of karate I studied. My master engraved it before he presented it to me. Come, it is in the room I placed my belongings in. It is one of the few things of value I posess."
Isamu then gets up and once he knows Ashley is following he leads her to the area where he placed his things upon arriving at the fire house. He goes to the corner and picks up his staff and twirls it a few times, then holds it out to Ashley so that she can get a closer look.

Alice opens her eyes and grins up at Jason "It wasn't bad," she teases gently, "but don't quit your day job." She stays lying on the bunk, one hand resting on her stomach where she had gotten shot earlier and the other is resting abover her head as she continues to relax.

" Whats the right term... oh yeah, bollux!" Jason replied, sticking his tongue out at Alice. He considered snapping her with his towel, but quickly caught himself as he realized it was all he had on. With an embarrassed look, he rolled on quickly to his own bunk and quickly pulled a tank top from his bags and pulled it on before shyly rolling so the pile of belongings shielded him. He squirmed as he continued dressing. " So did you get the answers you were looking for?"
Ashley took the staff and looked at it. " Oh, you really did mean a staff. Damn." she sounded dissapointed before smirking as she twirled it awkwardly like an oversized baton. " It's pretty light for it's size, but kinda hard to conceal. And it must look kinda funny, a big rock swinging a stick in a fight." She teased as she handed it back.

Isamu takes the staff back from Ashley and says, "As you saw during our sparring match, I do not always need it. Look at these carvings on the staff, this is why its important to me. "
He turns the staff in his hand and traces his fingers over a marking at one end. "This is the marking for my Sensei."
He turns the staff and slides his hand down towards one of the leather handgrips, "These symbols signfy the name my sensei gave me. He said that now that I have learned the way and how to use my abilities I have an obligation to use them to help others. Because of that I would need a name to signify my new responsibilities. He dubbed me Toride Buke which means Fortress Warrior. He said this was so because I was now trained as a warrior and could become an earthen fortress, or even build one all on my own."
He then once again turns the staff in his hands and slides it to show the other end, "This marking is ofr the style of karate I was trained in, Isshin-Ryu."
"The reason for the Bo is that Isshin-Ryu focuses on balance..." He takes the staff and balances it in one hand in front of them..., "The staff helps one to keep that balance. The moves are all circular and complete. With a weapon like the staff, one can learn to defend and attack almost simultaneously. It brings harmony and continuous motion.."
The entire time Isamu is relating this he doesn't pause for more than a second or two and continues as if this is a lecture. When finished he pauses while twirling the staff in a circular motion. Then he stops abruptly remembering her dissapointment when she first saw it, "I am sorry this must be a little boring for you. Perhaps we should join the others and see what they are doing."
With that Isamu puts the staff back and extends his hand so that Ashley may go first. "After you."

" I never said I was bored, Is." Ashley replied. " And I can see it means alot to you. I wasn't trying to offend you." She led them down the corridor . " Tell you what, there aren't any good breaks around here, but there's enough surf for boogeyboards. I'll teach you how to ride a wave and get over your dislike of the water. And in exchange, you show me how to use your staff. Deal?"
" Boys, that didn't take you long, Ash." Trevor mused as he passed them in the hallway.
" Don't start, BBQ boy, or so help me..." She threatened.
" Anytime, furbag. Just hope you like the stink of scorched fur." Trevor retorted and kept going with a laugh.
Ashley turned to Isamu. " Remember when I said these guys are my family? That would be the bratty little brother." she grinned.

"You did not offend me, Sometimes I get caught up in the philosphies and things that have shaped me, I forget that those around me may not find them at all interesting. I noticed you seemed a little dissapointed when I showed you the staff. Were you expecting something else?"
After watching the exchange, "Family threatens to hurt one another and call each other names? Is that normal? Would he actually try to do you harm?"

" No we'd never hurt each other intentionally." Ashley chuckled. " And yeah, we tease each other with nicknames. We never take it seriously, and most of us have names to tease each other. Don't take any offense to it, but it won't take long for someone to give you one."
She paused for a moment, trying to think up an answer to the question about the staff. " Uh, I guess I didn't know what to expect." She finally replied, blushing a bit as one of her symbiotes scurried into view acrossed her neck.

"Ah it's in jest then? I understand. Now that I know I will be sure to not take offense. I am glad that he would not try to harm you. From our battle I think that might be detrimental to his health. Besides you seem to be the only person that likes to talk to me. The little one, Maria she talked with me too until she left. I hope that she is ok with Miss Dexy."
"I'm sorry if I caught you off guard with the staff. What should we do now?"
