Tori sorted out a toolkit from the supplies. "Here Janx. Yew need one of dese if yer gonna fix our weaps and armor. Plus tha truck an such."

"Ain't no pool here. We got a swamp... But iffen yew kin sweeum, I'm good." She took the bump and replied with a surly hipcheck. "If yer good, I'm cool. I think we got all we need."
Tori took a plug of her own catnip under her cheek and looked over at Shep. "We cool here? We got a memorial to do now!"

Tim hesistated a minute. " Sam, I never meant to worry anybody, and I would have come in a helluva lot sooner if I'd known we were listed MIA. I got.. atached out in the swamp, and things just happened. I'm not expecting you to just forgive and forget. " Tim stoood up, looking upset," I thought you'd be happy that I found someone though."

"what are you talking about?" Shep chuckled, putting the NG pistol back, " I thought everyone in this squad had nine lives, well, except me, I've used a couple." He pointed out the medical bags to Tori before heading to the counter to sign for the requisitioned gear. " I'll pick up a few more things, you kids go do whatever, just steer clear of the barracks until I can make sure the Captains are done and both still standing. And Janxi, quit whinnin' about the comm, it's not like you'll notice a little more weight."

"Nine lives? Shit, yew used three juss on that last hop!We shagcats have nine lives, juss cuz we're apex predators. Ambush carnivores dat never get caught! Speakin' of that, Tacky? You'll be needin' one of these, and I recommend it for you and Capt'n Sam, too," Tori said to Shep.
The little cat grabbed what could be called a chicken suit. It was a 3D cammo outfit worn over armor. It helped in stalks by breaking up one's profile. Tori and Janxi used these suits to great effect on the first mission. Barbarians familiar with the swamp walked right past and never knew the cats were close enough to smell their halitosis.
"Yew kin localize them with vegetation, and yew'll look like part of tha swamp, and it's better than a ghillie suit cuz no snags!"

Sam scowls at her brother as she replies, "Of course I'm happy for you, you idiot!" Standing up, Sam puts her hands on her hips as she asks Tim, "How exactly would you react if I'd vanished for months, was pretty much declared dead and then you find out after months of almost worrying yourself into a few dozen ulcers that not only was I fine, but I was engaged and had a child? Would you really be so blasé about it?"

"Who's bitchin'? I'mma juss sayin' that I ain't like a real RTO or nuthin. You want me to hump it? I will. But yew and Capt'n Sam gonna be makin' tha calls."
She shot a very loaded and female glance at Takota. "What does he get to hump?" Hormones stifled, she was now back into social justice. Still though, she gave him a very furry nuzzle.

Sam smirks as she adds, "Besides, if you think I'm pissed, just wait until Mom gets her hands on you." Sam's smirks grows into a smile as she says, "I'll look positively cheerful." Sam then hugs her brother as she says sincerely, "I'm glad you're ok."

Takota doesn't seem to mind the nuzzling he gets from Janxi. In fact he even returns the gesture when he can.
When his gear is signed out to him he picks it all up then glances at Janxi. "I'm more than willing to do my part. Whatever you need me to carry I'll carry." Of course his mind comes up with a joking comment he would mock-whisper to Shep about females and complaining when it comes to luggage and going on a trip but he holds it back. He's only met these people a short time ago and doesn't quite feel comfortable making such jokes yet.
As the conversation goes on around him Takota checks through the stuff he is holding trying to think of anything that might work better than what he currently has picked out.

"We're busy 'nuff keepin' you close, Shep." Tori looked around and felt like she had all she needed.
She watched Tak and Janxi interact and the tip of her tail began to swish back and forth. Clearly, she was pleased with her partner and her budding romance. "What about some cammie paints? Black stands out in NVG's, and dead boy black stands out like a sore thumb in a swamp. We could touch up yer armor iffen ya want, Tacky."

Janxi begins to purr from the frequent nuzzles exchanged. "Aww, I know. I was juss messin' wif ya."
Her glance fell upon Shep. "Lessie, carryin' yew, tha radio, mah primary, my det kit, mah tool kit... Yeah, I reckon I'm up fer that. Hey, I gotta question. Me 'an T are still dressin in Marine and Squid cammy patterns. Mebbe we oughta switch so no one stands out. Army multi-cam would work good in tha' swamp."

Neon purple with LED lights all over it would make our enemies out there stand still in shock at what they are seeing. Then we could annihilate 'em before they have a chance to recover." Of course he is joking about the last part.

Embracing his sister, Tim replied, " I already sent her a vid message to tell her everything is okay. She's really gonna flip when I tell her the rest of the news." Letting Sam go, he looked at her. " I'm gonna have to talk to Carson about his nephew too. The kid died a hero to save the rest of us and ..."
A knock on the door interrupted and a familiar voice spoke up," Knock knock, anyone home?" Lt. Norrin asked, starting in the door. He saw Sam with Tim and back out," Sorry, didn't realize I was interrupting..."

" so I take a few more chances for the good of the squad." Shep said with a smile," That's what a good XO does. Not my fault the rest of the squad can't keep things from getting out of hand when I do." He looked at the cats," I don't know why you haven't cammoed up before. It's come in handy for me more than once. And the overcoat helps too."

"Muss be how good we was camouflaged. Ya seen us every day fer a week an never noticed we was all cammied up. Armor an' all, even had tha chicken suits. We're so shot up, we're pro'lly better off repainting 'em. We can do yers and Capt'n Sam's, too."
Tori realized her chicken suit was pretty decrepit, from slogging around, fragments, railgun fire, and an ongoing firefight. She got a new suit and tossed one to Janxi.
Then Tori noted something with her peripheral vision. It was her favorite target, Janxi's tail. She fixated on it but did nothing now. Quietly, she would follow the group out of the supply hut. There was just a hint of stalk in her step, and her ears pulled back ever so slightly.
