Alice keeps her face as neutral as she can as she replies "I'm ok, thanks. How are you? How's your shoulder?" As she talks, she thinks 'I'll bet they were talking about me, weren't they?' and tries to see if she can pick up on what Trevor is thinking. (4isp)

*there is a small gasping shudder and then the eyes open and the field drops once again .. unlike before, there is no one behind the open eyes this time, they just blink stupidly from time to time 'mommy?' .. the faint whisper of a voice almost like that of a child escapes Maria as she lays on the ground.
'i wanna go home mommy .. make them let me go home mommy .. please? .. i'll be good' .. *then the eyes close again, andthe body grows still, and then Maria starts coughing and rolls over and crawls to her hands and knees gasping for breath. 'i keep seeing a little girl with black hair and green eyes .. and she's calling for her mom .. my head feels like its gonna explode, but i can tell the feeling now .. but i still cant control the field .. it's .. '
*Dexy watches as Maria gets to her knees and is about to stand up, when the face goes blank and the eyes roll in the head and she crashes to the ground, still and unmoving

William looks over at Tyler and Felicia, his face trying not to hide the irony in the statement. "It's always good," William says, sounding like a toothless old man "to find out that there's more little rugrats on the way... I know a nice recipe for bath-tub jello."
After a second, he says "But, things will be harder from now on." He says solemnly. "Your doctor Reno was the same woman they refer to as Madam, and is the one who genetically tampered with Dexandra and Maria. You're going to need a different doctor. On the plus side, we might be able to get Dmitri to our side."

" Yeah, we know." Tyler replied, his mood becoming more serious. " And that scares me a little know that we know the truth about Doc Reno, or whatever her real name is. Not so much for us, but," His eyes diverted to Felicia's stomach, " got more to worry about now. Damn, I almost sounded responsible there for a minute."
Felicia cuffed Tyler playfully. " We won't get used to it." she turned her attention to Will. " You mean Transit? His teleporting could come in handy. not sure if Ashley would be too keen on having another ex around though."
To Alice's surprise, Trevor's mind is still on Maria and her accidental flashing him. " Oh, uh, my shoulder's fine. Tyler fixed me up. We'd be lost without him to patch us up. Ash was telling me you all had an adventure at the clinic. Did you really get shot?"
" I told you she caught a ricochet didn't I? " ashley butted in." Weren't you listening?"
Trevor shrugged. " Must be my selective hearing.Guess I'll have to get Will to help me with that while he's whipping me into shape." He replied sarcatically. " I agreed to start using my powers under his training, but I never said I'd make it easy on the old coot."
Ashley rolled her eyes. " You need to grow up. Right Allie?"
Dexy retracted her coils and moved in just in time to keep Maria's head from bouncing off the ground. " How did you ever survive on the streets if you get worn out so easy? You'll never be able to stand up to any of those Brethren goofs at this rate." she goaded, trying to get a response out of Maria. She let her lay and backed off. " You wanted me to stay and I said I would, but I'm not here as you're babysitter. You have to put something into this too."

*the mental images continue to rapidly flicker .. like a horribly shot black and white silent movie. then as the strongest pain splashes across in a vivid yellow stain, Maria screams and lurches backwards as the arms cross in front of the face. her body slams into Dexy's .. and then the field snaps up as the whispered voice screams out 'nooooo .... ' .
*as Dexy cry's of shock and then of pain seep into Maria's head .. she realizes she's not trapped in the dark and drops the field. 'oh god .. i'm sorry .. are you alright? .. did i hurt you? .. Dexy? .. oh god .. i .. ' *then stops the comments as Dexy's eyes open. Maria smiles with relief andt hen gets shoved backwards as Dexy pushes her off and then snaps out 'cute kid .. dont do it again ... now, try again .. and this time .. relax .. it wont hurt you'
*Maria takes a deep breath .. 'i .. i remembered a little bit .. i just saw yellow .. sorry . so .. relax .. alright .. ' *then starts to walk about as she becomes encased in her electrical armour .. and aside from the occasional whimper of pain .. its clear by the body's movement's .. she is starting to relax

" You don't have to worry about hurting me. It takes alot nowadays." Dexy replied, watching as Maria started to circle her. " That's better, now try using it in tandem with your other power. Take one of your marbles and try to charge it without dropping the field." she changed the subject. " What do you remember? Your life from before or what they did to you."

*moves the hand towards the marble pouch and pulling one out, comments as she tries to do three things at once 'i remembered i wanted my mom .. i'm not sure .. but .. i think she worked for the Madame .. and what i did look like .. but i can't draw .. and i was really small .. it hurt .. the little me .. '
*setting the charged marble, moves away from it. it sizzles away .. the fieldseems to hold onto the marble until she is out of range, then fades. [ think of a kid playing ghost with a sheet when the sheet gets caught by a piece of furniture and makes the classic teardrop shape and then an elastic snapping into place ]
'i dont think i feel really good right now Dexy .. i ..i think it has to go with, err .. had to do with what happened.

" All right, we can stop then. You've made progress already." Dexy sounded impressed. " But I want to try something first. We have to find out whether your field only protects you, or if you can use it to shield someone else. I want you to let it down long enough for me to get close to you and then put it back up. You won't hurt me, worse case I'll get charged up. Then we'll go back and get something to eat and you can get changed before you get Trevor excited again." She grinned.

'okay .. ' *then the crackling globe about Maria drops in a second .. and her face is a bit grey from the effort .. then the ground heaves as the marble explodes .. sending Dexy into the air and into Maria. At the explosion and before the impact, shudders as the arm raises wit h the 'oh j ... ' *and is then slammed into the ground.
*at the same time as they hit the ground, the field is up again .. and sadly Dexy finds herself absorbing at a fast rate and she yells 'shut it off' .. and Maria drops it down, mainly because she cant breathe.
'you really think he likes me? .. i wish that would happen one day. i think it was the .. uhh flesh he liked more.' .. *then as the two of them head back towards the cabin she continues 'you know .. for the first 6 months after my power first showed, i survived by going down and out of the sewers. i found the bootlegger tunnels, and i know them like the back of my hand. there was some lights there, not a lot .. but who cared right? .. i was hiding and safe there. now? .. they're getting used by others'
*the small talk continues until they get closer to the cabin and then she says as she climbs the steps to the back door, and opening it ' the only thing i recall .. was the first me .. but i think she knew what Madam was doing .. i recall her telling me to "be good and You can go home", and that someone said 'why is she so resiliant?' .. dont know what that means .. but there you go .. is that what you mean?' Maria pauses and turns to look at the others and goes silent 'uhh .. sorry .. gotta grab something to wear and then get a bite to eat. then i'll be out of your hair until later .. sorry' *grabbing a t-shirt out of her bag and then an apple out of the bowl and takes a bite, and moves for the front door .. eyes watching the others

Alice blinks in surprise at the image of Maria and the accidental flashing. She makes her face blank as she replies "I'm glad your shoulder's ok." After a minute, she admits "Yes, I got shot. It hurt a lot, but I think I'm ok now." At Ashley's remark, she says "I think we're all going to be growing up a lot in the next little while, whether we want to or not." she sighs quietly as her face reflects the fact that she's been experiencing a little of this in the last couple of days.

*as her eyes met Trevor's .. Maria gets warm, and sadly or happily for most, it doesn't show at all. except for the fact that she walks into a wall .. and then grins as she mutters 'oops .. '
*then a faint giggle and a smile shows from under the hat still firmly firmly on top of the head, that turns to look at Dexy and then the giggle gets louder and seeing the knowing smirk there*

William purses his lips with Felicia's statement. "Well, if she doesn't approve, it's Ashley's own fault for dating so much." He says, with more than the usual hint of emotion. "Plus, I'm worried that she's still only going to use me as a crutch." He takes a sigh. "Why can't we just commondeer a SCRET unit from another state? Trained troops. Just one or two, that can follow orders without giving a hint at what they should be."
Sitting on the far end of the couch, he says to Tyler and Fel. "I feel like the pyramid is out there, somewhere. And we're not going to find it here." Without looking at Felicia or Tyler.
"Why are we so completely out of communication, anyways?" He asks, as he tries to find more details.

*stops where she is .. and watches quietly, now that the giggles are under control. apple bit into so she wont loose her hold on it, and then pulls the tags off the new shirt and then holds it so that she can get into it easily.
*then takes the apple out, and then looks at William .. 'maybe treat everyone like a person instead of a nothing might help you. but whatever, i'm no help to anyone here if i dont understand what i can do. and thanks for the offer Ty .. but i think Dexy helped more than you could have, no offense dude.' *takes another bite and moves for the front door once again

"Maria." William says cooly. "It is my job to push people to teach them what they can do. All I've seen you able to do is pass out, run away, or think you should be centre of attention. Should I push you to a running track, a theatre stage or a specialist about your Narcolepsy, hmm?" With that, he turns to Tyler and Felicia. "I will need time to think. Both of you, keep Ashley on her toes, but don't offer suggestions. She needs to learn independence and how to make decisions."
With that, he breezes past Maria (sidestepping anything she would have done to keep him there), out the door, and takes flight into the forest.

*shrugs* 'ain't running now am i? .. as he's flying over the forest .. now i think that would be cool to do .. sorta .. but maybe not .. might do something stupid .. me i mean, not him.'
*slips about the side of the building as she takes the cap off and then the jacket and moves away from the house, forgetting that she should have more modesty as she slips the new shirt on, and then sits on the ground on her jacket and thinks about her past again and shakes the head in some confusion
