Socrates could tell he was losing ground as he saw the beast, a frog the size of a Scarab hovercar, when a massive paw suddenly yanked him from the water onto the much faster boat. (around the waist if he lets her, by the ankle if he tries to dodge)
The frog must have realized it was being chased, as it suddenly stopped after another moment. Fast enough Tori nearly overshot it. This close, anyone using thermal optics could tell it wasn't the frog they were picking up, but Shep inside it's mouth as it sat on the bottom, about fifteen feet below the boat.

Held by the ankle, Socrates looks up. "It has stopped moving. Aim for the torso." He reported, as calmly as if this happens every day. "Or..." He held up the helmet for Janxi to try. "You might have better luck."

"I'm gonna orbit the frog. Everyone line up on da starboard side and light ol Kermit the fox up!"
With that, she began to execute a long, slow turn around the frog, throttling up or down if he tried to escape. "Swimmers stand by! Jin, you wanna take the rudder?"
She hoped he would know how to pilot the boat so she could fulfill her secondary MOS of rescue swimmer. She was sick of frogs already and would love to tear into this one.

"Shep ain't got his brain bucket on, so we ain't got the luxury of time to plink at Kermit down there," Janxi said as she began affixing her swim fins to her boots.
"If Jin can pilot this here boat, me and Tori will cast at each of the frog's flanks. The boat will come in from the seaward side, and we'll drive him up on land with concentrated fire, and prevent his ex-scape. If Jin can't, Soc, you'll take Tori's place on the opposite flank. It'll give 'em nowere to run but dry land where we can use our weapons to maximum effect and maybe get Shep into the air! It's like herdin' cattle... Drivin' it toward shore means we'll be able to shoot it in the ass. Shep's not inside tha toad, he's in its mouf!"
With her fins on, she moved to the side of the boat, sitting on the gunwale and kicked off her gear other than det pack, knives and other small arms and ammo and sat to roll off the side when in position and ordered to cast.
"Tori, swimmer ready to cast!" She activated her suit's underwater stealth feature and waited.

Socrates hitched the helmet to Janxi's hip. "So long as there is a plan. If the frog drops Shep, you're first to him. No-one else can protect him so easliy."
He hefted up his rifle. "Anytime."

"Helmet ain't gonna do no good cuz his suit's already waterlogged. We'd just be trappin' him in a suitfull of water and he'd drown jus as dead. We gotta get him outta da water, and Tori's gonna need to work on him quicktime. When we gettim' up, we'll pop a flare. If its me and Tori, Jin, you come get us. If it's you and me, Soc, T will be johnny on the spot."
She checked the position of the monster again and looked at Soc. "If yer comin in, make sure ye've gat tha monster dead center between us. Use your primary to keep him from moving around us. Remember, our rifles' range is going to suck ass underwater, so we may need to get up close and personal. Avoid explosives, cuz the concussion could scramble Shep like an egg in a shell.
"Jin, if yer drivin, approach the monster from the seaward end, to drive him up on the shore. All y'all on the boat, remember, we're gotta shoot him in the ass. May the foxin' force be with us."
Judging the position to be right as Tori circled the monster, she called "Swimmer away!" and rolled backwards into the water from the gunwale. Swimming down she made sure her stealth was switched on and looked through the muck for the monster using polarized and thermal. Slowly she made her way toward it.

Sam frowns in frustration, hating that, given the circumstances, there wasn't a lot that she could do. Shooting the creature that had Shep might cause it to bite down and with Shep in its mouth, that was a bad thing. Sam worries what might happen if Shep was seriously injured, especially given they no longer had a doctor with them. Sam tries to silently run the boat in the direction the cats and Soc were swimming, going as quiet as she could manage so they can get Shep on the boat quickly after rescuing him.

Jin nodded and took the rudder, freeing up Tori, then executed the requested manuever with a practiced hand, nodding to Sam as she took the pilot seat. The grizzled swamper gave a black toothed grin and a thumbs up, as if somehow he knew things would be okay.
As soon as Janxi's (and those that followed) vision cleared from the transition to underwater, the giant frog could be seen sitting in the mud with it's head held up. It's mouth was filled, and almost appeared to be moving oddly. The frog's eyes were fixated on the boat above
(anyone passing a perc check of 12 can tell that the odd movement in the frog's mouth is from something inside struggling)

"Thanks, Jin. Bring me around to Kermit's otherside, then you come round to the front and we race him into the shore!" Tori climbed to the side, attached her fins and rolled off the side of the boat shouting "Swimmer away!"
Swimming down and through the gloom, Tori saw the frog and a struggling Shep. She engaged her electromagnetic dampeners. Coupled with the armor's stealth, she was invisible to sonar and other sensors, a shark's sense of smell and had the profile of 2 or 3 fish. She watched the frog and used the radio. "Catfish One to Six: Our objective is still five by five. We're in position to start herding. The frog's facing you, and Shep's conscious in his mouth. Tell Jin to start towards him slowly, but hold your fire. If he retreats, we'll herd him toward shore. If he stands his ground, we're gonna rush him and go hand to hand. Tell Dogfish he can enter the water from your position to advance on Kermit and tighten the net, over."

"Catfish 2 to Dogfish... When you get wet, rotate left to cover my flank. I'm engaging Kermit in CQC... (Close quarters combat)"
Janxi, with her EM stealth on swam in from the gloom, slightly behind the frog, hoping the darkness, some silent swim technique and stealth armor would mask her approach.
Once close, she elected to use her natural claws in lieu of the vibro claw on her arm. That made too much noise underwater, while the regular claws plus her strength were silent, and almost as lethal. Swimming in from the murk, she would slash at the back of the monster's neck, to damage its spinal cord. With the boat up front, soc moving to her side, and Tori waiting if he ran away from her, the monster could go nowhere but land without a challenge.

Socrates entered and jinx could see him fall like a non-threatening stone between the frog and the river. Near the bottom, he straightened up and readied his rifle.
"I figured you might." he said on the comm after Janxi "Hold your fire from topside. Target is holed up, and too much risk to us."
If the frog tries to swim, Socrates will fire to herd it near shore and/or Janxi.

Sam weakly smiles at Jin and thinks to herself and hopes his thumbs up are accurate and that they'll be able to rescue Shep from the creature that had grabbed him. A bit relieved when Tori informs her that Shep is still alive, Sam says. "Copy that." She relays the instructions to Jin in a quiet tone of voice, keeping close watch for any other signs of trouble.

Jin nodded and followed dirctions expertly as Sam watched below. She could see something against the side of the frog's face as it tried to back away from Janxi's attack.
Unable to fight back with it's meal in it's mouth, the frog began to try to back away from Janxi when her claws ripped into flesh. It started to try to escape, but between Tori and Socrates, it had nowheres to go and started for the shoreline, trailing blood.

Socrates continued to shepheard the Shepheard-eating frog towards land. As it moved, he trailed, being careful not to hit it with Janxi so close to her. It even felt... primally natural, he noted. But then, this part always did.
