8. Mars

[Renekin Skywalker]

The two who had just arrived got up and nodded at Jessica. "Better mystery than the bus." One said, as they went over to the wall to push.

[Dome]

Foreman shakes his head, 'I got a bad feeling about this,' he thinks to himself as he too puts his shoulder against the wall pushing it like the others.

[dakota]

McKenna hesitates as brute force isn't one of her strengths, but if there is room, helps out.

It should be noted that cracks in the wall are very interesting things. Walls themselves can be interesting.

This particular wall, as McKenna soon discovered, was lighter than planned, as she and one of the runners pushed it open with relative ease, while everyone on the other side of Miner Joe were still straining.

What was thought to be a wall, then, was really a door.

BUT, a door to where?

"This is getting too weird." McKenna said, not thinking as she took a couple steps to look inside the door they had just found.

It looked like another set of cave tunnels, to McKenna, but the sand wasn't as smoothed by the wind as was done in the main caves.

Everyone else just saw McKenna fall through the wall! OMG! She's, like, gone! Or something!111!1!!!1!

[Mierin]

Jessica's eyes grow wide and she lunges after McKenna, not exactly sure what is going on, but didn't think she should just stand there. "McKenna!" Jessica yells, startled into using the doctor's first name for once as she reaches through the wall, intending to pull the doctor back through.

Flip runs over to the part of the wall where McKenna disappeared, even before getting there he began to call out, "MJ."

Jessica safely grab's McKenna's arm, as the latter blithely walks into the cave.

What they all discover, as McKenna had discovered, as actually another tunnel.

The part of the wall she fell through, she didn't actually fall through. It was, instead, a door. A door! In a cave tunnel! On Mars! Running from weird creepy Evil Martians, of which there are no such things, Foreman.

For all intents and purposes, the tunnel (if I ever say "cave", I mean "tunnel") is about the same size as the one they are currently in, and about level, so McKenna's not falling down holes or anything. The Door, upon closer examination, seems like it was made to look like rock on the outside, but from the inside clearly looked like a door. Hinges and all.

As mentioned above, the sand does not look to be smoothed by wind, though is still not revealing.

Jessica looks relieved that McKenna wasn't, as she had feared, doing an impression of that old children's book her father had read to her, where the girl fell down the rabbit hole. Jessica scolds McKenna gently, "Be careful. We don't know where we're going and who knows what could pop out at us."

Realizing she was still holding onto McKenna's arm, Jessica lets it go and explores their immediate area, curiously. (perception=[dice=20])[rand=62730244802608962028685523399097497280628895769510617655050791441]

[Dome]

As soon as he sees that MJ is ok, Flip stops. He notices Jessica holding onto MJ's arm. He shakes his head as if to clear away any thoughts that were starting and then moves towards the doorway, "maybe he was taken into a tunnel like this. So again, the question is, a mystery tunnel in a cave, or a bus full of what may be giant martian spiders?"

Without waiting for anyone to answer, Flip walks forward into the tunnel.

" I'm okay. Really." McKenna reassured as Jessica released her arm. She didn't like how Jess and Flip were being overprotective, but kept it to herself and waited for others before following.

Patting Foreman on the back, as he moves further ahead, Miner Joe says "You have one heck of an imagination."
20 feet in, he paused, stopped and squatted, looking at the ground.

Jessica, likewise, saw depressions in the ground. About 2 inches, or so wide, like spike holes, but spread out in a pattern she can't make sense of.

The two later comers (David and Hissop) sort of stay closest to Jessica, since she seemed the most trustworthy.

Jessica smiles at David and Hissop in a reassuring type way and wishes she could contact Tawfeek in some way to let him know what was going on. 'I bet if I could get my hands on something I could try to build some kind of comm device.' she thinks to herself. To David and Hissop, she says "Let's keep moving, so we all stick together as a group."
