Long could read Trevor's reply [I'm In deep sh!t. they can trace cell. will call but need help. I didn't kill anyone.]
He looked at Long as he pulled out the battery. "I knew she'd help. So do we find Deth first, or talk with Ashley and see what she can do? she's mutant like me, but she works with a government group. I didn't exactly hit it off with one of her superiors before I left."

"No way. The only reason why I asked about Deth is so that I could offer some kind of gift to the police when we had evidence to clear our names. But teaming up with a group to take down the whole Brethren would be even better."
When they had driven a few miles from The Hare Club Long found a pay phone and pulled over.

There was a thumping from the trunk," He probably needs some fresh air."

Long gets out of the car and opens the trunk.
"Rusty did not have your brother. She did not know anything about him disappearing. But Trevor has a friend that can probably help out with our multitude of problems. Just relax and this will be over soon."
Long closes the trunk again.

Panek's eyes shifted to Trevor, who merely smirked," You remember Kodiak, don't you?"
the Brethren member's eyes widened, but before he could respond, Long had closed the trunk again with a bold smirk. "Let him stew on that. So I guess I'm gonna call her now? Isn't the payphone thing a little cliché?"
Even as he said it, he was digging a quarter from his pocket and lifting the receiver.

Before Trevor starts dialing Long asks, "Who is Kodiak? And what happened that you would mention it?"

"Ashley used to be a member of the Brethren before she had some sense talked, knocked, depending on how you look at it, into her." Trevor replied, finally finding a quarter. " She changes into a bear thing, kinda like a werewolf, so they called her Kodiak. And she's got a bit of a control problem when she changes. Tore up a couple clubhouses with people still in them because someone pushed her buttons. She controls it alot better now."
He inserted the quarter in the phone and began to dial.

"hi, is Ashley there?" trevor said as someone picked up. " Sure, I'll wait."
He looked at Long. " It's okay really. Isn't there anyone in your precinct you trust?" He asked while waiting.

Long waits for Trevor's conversation to be over and listening carefully the whole time.

"Hello? Trevor, what's going on?" Luckily the phone was loud enough Long could hear Ashley on the other end of the line.
" It not like they say on the news. I didn't kill anyone."
"I know you didn't, Trevor. But you can't keep running like this."
"Ashley, the Brethren did this. Allison was the one that died in the fire. She was inside sleeping when Rusty had the lodge lit up. I wasn't there to stop them in time." Long could see the pain on Trevor's face.
"Allison?Oh Trev, I'm sorry. but....," she paused a moment," Trevor, the news said the bodies were from to men. I, m sure that's what was reported."
Trevor covered the phone for a moment," Two men?" he said to Long, confused.

" Maybe," Trevor replied, obviously getting annoyed Ashley was keeping him waiting on the line. " Who else was there? I was so focused on Rusty and the brothers' Dim."
He put the phone back up to his mouth and spoke loudly, " Hey Ash c'mon, I'm hanging here. Can you help me or am I on my own?"
