Coop tried to think fast on his feet. One or two of them, no problem. But four on one didn't appeal to him, not to mention however many were outside with Sarah. " No, I was just trying find out if he was okay. I heard him when I came in to wash my hands. guess the cafeteria food doesn't agree with him." He backed down and started for the door.

Sarah sighs inwardly, but smiles politely at the two standing guard "From time to time." she replies "Have you gone to school here long?"

"Oh, we're second years. 'Cept Janus there." He says, pointing to one of the four that entered the washroom. "He's fourth."
As the young man explains this, Coop re-appears in the hallway.

Stepping up behind Sarah, Coop stole a glance back inside before speaking. " Sorry to take so long, but there's a guy in there that didn't sound good. Turns out those other guys are friends of his so I figured they could see to him."

When Coop appears and moves into his position next to Sarah, the two second year protegés look up. Look waaaaaay up. (Somewhere, a flute plays.) Then they look back to Sarah, then to Coop. Their faces morph from their sort of ogrishness to a disappointed embarassment.
"He a friend of yours?" Says one of them. "Didn't uhhh... didn't know."
"Yeah." Agrees the other, as they both move about a step from the hulking figure.

Coop fought down the urge to smirk at their reaction, but said nothing. Instead he decided to let Sarah finish her chat.

Sarah smiles at Coop as he comes out of the bathroom "No problem," she replies taking his hand. Nodding at the two others, she asks "So, what's it like here? Is it a good school?"

The two proteges in the hall looked between themselves, unsure how to appropriately answer. The chattier of the two was about to answer when the fourth year and the remaining three proteges walk out of the washroom. "Come on." Says the forth year. "The headmaster wanted us there to practice the ritual again."
Wordlessly, the 2 second years fall into step and the troop of them are off around the corner, leaving the pair alone in the mostly sterile hallway.

Sarah pales upon hearing the word 'ritual' and stiffens as she watches the troop of students go around the corner. "I don't like the sound of that." she says quietly to Coop. "Do you think we should follow them or check in with Tobrias?"

A chill ran up Coop's spine as the protoge said ritual, strong enough that he couldn't suppress it. Dark memories threatened to flood into his mind and he struggled to push them out as he had been taught to do. He took a moment to regain his composure before answering. " I think we should do both. If you want to give tobrias a call, I'll check to make sure this Mark guy didn't get roughed up when I came out. He might be willing to talk now and might be able to tell us about what they're up to."

Sarah nods quietly and gives Coop a discrete hug as she can see he's struggling with his thoughts after waht happened. "Ok," she replies "I'll update Tobrias and meet you back here after you make sure he's ok." She pulls out her cell phone and calls Tobrias.

Coop smiled at Sarah's comforting. " Be right back." He said and turned to walk back into the washroom. " Mark, are you okay in here?" He asked, walking slowly over towards the stall he'd last seen the student.

"Hello, Sarah." Says Tobrias over the phone. "How has thesearch been progressing?"
Inside, Coop hears a flushing, then Mark appears, washing his hands. "Oh, you're still here?" He says, resignedly.

Coop nodded. " Yup, still here, but not for long. Just wanted to make sure you were okay and give you one more chance to talk before I go see what your buddies are up to." He smiled. " Heck, if you don't want to talk to me, step out of the washroom and talk to Sarah. she's the brains anyways, just she wasn't fussy about coming in to talk to you." He made sure he said the last part loud enough that she could here.

Sarah replies to Tobrias "They're going all right. We didn't get anything from the headmaster, he just stonewalled us. Coop's talking to this kid who's tryiing to get into the popular clique at the school. And we overheard them talking about having to practice a ritual of some kind." Sarah's voice grows solemn as she talks about this.
