Ch. 54 Missing: One Mutant Speed Demon

Alice shakes her head at Avi. "You obviously don't want to be here, so just go. Sorry to keep you from being a knight in shining armour for your girlfriend. Thanks for your help." Alice's voice is thick with sarcasm as she moves past Avi, heading toward Jane so she can give her the address of the cybercafe Jason had mentioned in his letter.

Deci pretty sure it is safe and not Alice gets up out of curiosity and walks over to the next room knocks gently on the door. "Hello, is everything OK in there?" She then waits for a response for a moment or two before trying to open the door silently to make sure whoever is ok on the other side.

[Dome]

Isamu follows Alice back to the control room. He frowned when she addressed Avery, but she is in charge so he didn't say a word. When they walk back in he looks at Ashley and gives her a slight smile to try and let her know all was ok. He quickly scans the room for Deci. He doesn't see her, but doesn't bring it up right away, he just hopes she isn't off doing something again.

The door opened after a moment and was replaced by Ryne, who more than took up most of it. " everything's fine. Uh, why are you in..., oh, I guess we're neighbors. Didn't mean to disturb you. I'm Ryne."

" Alice, I didn't mean it like that." Avi contested as he followed. If I can help find that idiot, as much as he and I don't like each other, I will because he'd do the same for me. but at the same time, thanks to Greed, Sasha's whole world is burning to the ground so I'd like to help her out. and she's not my girlfriend, not that I wouldn't like to try. You'd do the same thing if our roles were reversed."

Janie pointed out the address of the cyber cafe to Tom, which put it as a pivot point for the arc. As they did , the traffic cam monitor switched again for no reason. " That's odd, I just hacked into the feed, didn't set the program to roam." Janie said.

Ashley caught Isamu's attention, her brow raised and she mouthed the would well questioningly, obviously concerned how things went.

Sasha sighs and shakes her head. She knows better than to argue with the guy he's just doing his job. Still she goes to the detective on duty to give her statement.

"I'd been having problems in the past few weeks with anti-mutant lovers. Threatening my bar, my employees, even called the health inspector, Sir," she explains patiently. "I called the cops each time it happened but I don't know who was behind it sir."

[Mierin]

Alice shakes her head at Avi as she replies "Since you've met her, you've made it crystal clear what your priorities are, and it's not this team. It's her. So go. It's obviously what you want to do." Alice then walks away from Avi quietly.

Not sure where this person came from but never the less happy that it is not Alice. "Oh hello Ryne, my name is December but you can call me Deci. I do not recall if we met but if we have not I guess I am tied for being the newest member of the team." She offers her hand in friendship. "To be honest I was just worried it was someone coming up to yell at me for something I did wrong, actually I am really afraid of Alice right now. Actually if you have time maybe if it is ok if you could explain some stuff to me?"

Tom wheels up to the computer. "OK, let me try and tackle it." As he starts to work on the terminal.

[Dome]

Isamu offers Ashley a small smile. He makes his way towards her. He says to everyone there, "I have explained everything to Alice, she is going to take over direction of the search. Has anything new developed?"

He leans over towards Ashley and says, "she is not happy, but she understood my reasons."

[dakota]

As Alice turned her back on him, Isamu and Ashley saw Avi hang his head at the dismissal. He glanced at them with an odd expression, then turned and left the room. Ashley didn't say anything, merely taking Is' hand for a moment. " See Janie and Tom, they're working on it. I'll go talk to Avi." She shot Alice a look as she was leaving the room. " We can't afford to lose anymore teammates today."

Janie swallowed at Ashley's comment, continued working with Tom. As Tom watched, the monitor changed again, but this time he caught a blur passed the camera as it switched on it's own. Something moved through the frame that the camera could barely catch.

Ryne smirked. " Welcome to the team then. Don't worry, I won't yell at you, my head's too foggy right now for that. " He shook her hand gently. " I guess I can answer some questions, as long as I can sit down." He flopped on a chair hard enough the cushion springs creeked.



The detective took notes. " Sorry ma'am, I'll get onto this investigation and get the notes from the other officers to see what I can find out. Wish I could do more for you right now. As soon as the chief clears it, you can go inside to get your things, but I'm pretty sure you won't be allowed to stay here for the time being."

The battalion chief nodded," We'll be out in a couple minutes. You'll have to stay out of the basement, there's a fire investigator down there now who may want to talk to you, but you can go upstairs."

Her cellphone bleeped a new text...

"GOT SOMETHING!" Tom points to the screen.

[Dome]

Isamu watches Ashley go after Avi, he stays quiet. This is Alice's team. She has to choose how to treat them. He knows how upset he would be if Ashley were missing, so he tries to chalk up her anger to her emotions at the moment. He walks up behind Tom and says, "what did you find?"

"Blur on the camera - probably our runner." Tom tries to take the camera back to the spot he sighted him and get a bead on direction.

[Dome]

"Was this recorded? If so can you replay and slow down?"
