I noticed, what with the Terry Schiavo coverage, and then with the Pope, and probably soon with the Prince of Morocco, dieing is getting a lot of coverage these days... And it's something I've found irksome of late.
Any thoughts?

I got a thought. The Pope: Hes super old and is gonna die. To Any Catholics out there, sorry but its true. Terry Schiavo... it was her husbands decision and as that he has the right. She was a vegetable for crying out loud. Price of Morocco... haven't heard about this yet.
If this has offended anyone. post here and everyone can have a huge discussion about it since we dont see it on the news enough anyways
Blag!

dont trust anything the media tells you. the pope really died two weeks ago. the news was faked so they could buy time. this way the in-house fighting over the new pope could get settled. at least this is what i was told a week ago.

And, to clarify, by media, I mean mostly "news and television" (but especially the news, and maybe reality shows "Next on TLC - you saw The Wedding Story. You loved Baby Story. Now, here's our latest: Dieing Story") as opposed to all media of communication, enterainment and information.

I need to think of a thread that actually makes for a longer conversation one day... Or else be so obstinate in my opinions as to get everyone riled up to post against me... nah, I'm sure I've got enough trouble through Mariana

The real travesty in all of this is the thousand of important happenings that go unreported around the world when the media focuses constantly on one or two stories it deems big. Has anyone here actual even heard about a story like, say, this one: www.grist.org/news/muck/2005/01/21/little-rockyflats/index.htmlps, by posting the link above I in no way indicate my agreement, or disagreement, with all or any statements in or beliefs held by the site linked to.

It is indeed. Reminds me of our last Government being accused of laundering tax-payer money...
See, now, this is cool news... I can live with that kind of drama... but play-by-plays like the late Pope? Wrong. Just wrong.

As Americans we are facsinated by death and yet fear it at the same time. If half of the people who gawk over this stuff has ever seen someone actually die they would realize that it is not that big of a deal. As my best friend once said "Death is the logical conclusion to life."
Right now it is just the flavor of the month and when another "newsworthy" topic comes along we will forget about all of this.
Remember: "Public opinon changes as the wind blows and the headlines change." I can't remember who wrote it but it is true.

That story has been a main topic on most Canadian news stations, but I didn't see anything about it on CNN. I don't watch CNN all the time, so they might have covered it on occasion and I just missed it.
Are you Canadian SDF? I'm sorry if you mentioned it before, I can remember if you did.

I'm surprised it's not getting CNN coverage. Americans knew about the Brault testimony before we did...
