The next morning, after giving everyone ample time for morning routines and breakfast, MacColter called everyone to the war room. He insisted that Alice and Isamu sit at the head of the table by him, but left the others to find a seat. Janie was the only absentee, but she was not far away at her control panel for the command centre.
dylin took a sip from his coffee, then sat the cup down while waiting for people to settle. " allright folks, I'm going to shoot straight with this, but ask any questions and I'll try to answer them as best I can.But this is the low down. Because of the incidents in Seattle, Atlanta and Calgary ( even Ryne looked suprised at the mention of Calgary), Homeland Security has dropped the MSCA as being a liability. But, we all aren't out of a job. Behind the lines in Washington, we've effectively been transferred to a branch of the National Defense Council. It's new, so I don't even know the proper title for who we work for. anyone familiar with the national supergroup caled sentinels of Liberty and Justice from the evening news? Apparently we are now affiliated to the same organization, but not on the same level. All assets have been conviently tranferred as well, so you won't have to give up your fancy digs." He grinned, and got another sip.
He looked at Alice and Isamu," I apologize for not telling you first, but final word only came through about twenty minutes ago,. Between then and 4 AM, we were all out of a job. Good news is, you're all getting a raise., sort of. At least spending account for perks and necessities on top of your salaries and everything provided. We can go over the terms later before anyone signs any paperwork. "
Avi looked around and grinned. " It's official then, we're all out of Control."
Jason shook his head," That was horrible, Avi."

*sierra comments 'i get a raise? .. i wasn't getting a salary before. So is there any paperwork to be looked over?'
*her eyes watch Dylin as he reacts to her comments. Her degree touched on 'legal' things. 'and i'll need to know what you do have on me. i need to know the level of privacy we have. mainly cause i'm not sure how much information about my past i'm free to give you ... sir'
*there is a polite smile on the face that doesn't quite reach the eyes. if she tells him too much, the survivors will be brought in for questioning for not reporting the accident and other things like that. 'just need to know how far the information is gonna trickle down or if i need to 'spill my guts'. don't want our enemies we have to learn about it'

Deci sits down beside Sierra and listens in.
"I get paid for this. Wow this is almost as good as the day I graduated. Now that is a good question is the government going to need info about us or not. I only ask cause despite all things I do not mind telling everything about me but still, it is a question one of us should ask. Mind you I may be completely off base here as everyone might already know this at the table.."
Still having not met everyone takes a scan around and sees all the faces here for the first time.
"I guess the appropriate question is... how much do we get paid then?"

Tom is sitting in his wheelchair wearing a red "Che" T-shirt and bluejeans, writing down some notes on a metal clipboard. "Right. OK, well, I have no idea if that is better or worse given that before two days ago I'd never even heard of these groups, but I'll take everyone's concern as a sign that it's not good news. In the meantime, we should maybe focus on our local problems - The mayor who is possibly a meta, his goonsquad led by Wraith, and that Ragnarok is still out there. Is there anything else we should be aware of?"

*Sierra looks at Alice, then at Isamu and shrugs before looking at the table. 'maybe the flatscans in the vans that tried to grab that girl? the one i messed up on trying to get Mako out in the open to take down? ... the main reason i need a babysitter when i leave the house'
*she examines her fingernails now and waits for the powers that be to figure out who's leading what and when they'll need her help. then takes a piece of paper and following the table .. writes in the names of the people she 'knows' .. then slides it to Deci so she know's who's who when it comes time for questions and answers

Isamu takes in the information, ponders it over for a moment before speaking. "I do not care about being paid or not. My concern is where does this change affect our dealings with Wraith? He has local authority given to him by the mayor. Does our authority supersede his? Yesterday we barely avoided several confrontations with him or his people, not counting being poisoned by radiation."

Angel came to the meeting and sat propping back in the chair looking at the ceiling. She was stripped down to her battle outfit, her slight charred slacks swinging in the breeze outside on the clothesline. Angel just arrive back to the house an hour ago after going to collect her motorcycle, which now was hidden in the garage. She made sure to go over it with a fine tooth comb to make sure no one was tracking it. She studied the faces of everyone there and noted the youth of a lot of the members.
She couldn't complain about it, she was young once too when she started out in the super soldier biz.
“So we're a government sanctioned super group? I kinda like that. Getting the chance to play superhero.” Angel says, then she looks up. “Do we have any idea whose wacking the other groups and if its related to whats going on around here?”
“I know a good deal about what Wraith and his boys jobs are in the city. They handle the super crimes caused by people with Meta powers. They are a branch of locale law enforcement for the area which gives them a great deal of flexibility in going about their jobs. Seeing as yesterday was my first and last day with them, Wraith was going out to enforce a warrant on one of your friends; Trevor.
“Fortunately, that failed to happen and he got away. I'm sure some of you already know that story. Wraith has cart blanc within the law to enforce those laws. That means anyone with warrants he's got every legal reason to enforce. Also gives him a good reason to recruit his super team in order to go after guys like Treavor. Obviously one of the reasons why they hired me, of course, unlike the others, I do tend to think for myself.”
Rather people are paying attention to her or not Angle continues, “Wraith is card carrying sociopath, he's bad news. The boys he's with are probably intimidated by him and no doubt he's giving them good reasons to toe the line or bad things happen to them. No doubt he's already taken you guys into his plans and hence why you have a hard time dealing with his team. He's overloading the system while he continues enforcing whatever dictates the Mayor has him doing...”
“Well...” Angel says finally. “Thats my working theory.”

' .. if what you're saying is true .. then why Jason and why Trevor? why just those two first? and why the quarreling brothers? still need to figure out why Wraith is showing up everywhere Jason does in the city. sorry, i know .. talking too much .. '
*Si folds her fingers together and studies them now. knowing she has to learn to stop blurting, she makes the effort now. if the others have anything they want to say about the topic they can.

Dylin fielded each comment in turn.
" Yes sierra, you'll need to file a little paperwork. Janie will help with that. You're all free to check what background info we have on file for each of you, I just ask that you don't attempt to alter it. The system is very tempermental and will lock you out. .and the system it is on is not connected to any network, so it doesn't leave that computer, but there are hard copies."
" I'll need some info Deci, but not your personal background or anything like that. again, Janie will help enter your data. You get paid a modest salary of $3000 a month, plus annemities provided, after taxes."
" You can add Charisma, the woman behind the Atlanta incident, Tom. She's been seen in miami already. And the Brethren, though they haven't surfaced much lately, as well as Sasha and Avi's friend Alistar Greed, who we don't know what his game is."
" I don't know about Wtraith. Last I checked, he is still wanted internationally, so he's fair game last I checked. I have to do some digging to find out how the mayor sidesteps federal jurisdiction."
" No idea who hit the others, so we need to be careful."
Jason looked at Alice, his eyes wide. " That tracker. Sierra's conspiracy theroy was right, somehow Wraith got a tracer inside me when I had surgery. That's why he shows up where I do." He was starting to get angry.

" There are nine countries for sure, all of them Middle Eastern and African, except for North Korea." Mac replied. " But hewas on missions in several others. None of them have extridition treaties with us thoguh, missions were planned for that contingency."
Jason scowled slightly at the others making it sound easy. " Yeah, I'd love to take it out, but I have to be able to find it first. What if they somehow built it right into my spine? No offense Tom, but I'm not sure I want you using your powers on my back, you magnetize the wrong part and the replacement is worthless."
