The office of General Reng-Lar Strell, the Bio-Freak and Skrayper known as "Dragon Eye" is a spartan affair. From the looks of it, he's never even really moved in, as there are no books on the shelves, no pictures on the desk.
His strange softly glowing yellow eyes appraise the group one by one.
"So, what do you know about the Victory mission?"

Balus shrugged, looking at the others, having to stand because there was no furniture that would support his weight. " I only heard rumors, and they ranged all kinds of crazy ideas."

The Blhaze known as Solaxis stood nearby, white energy flowing from his head down his back like a mane of platinum hair, contrasting against the charcoal color and texture of his silicon "skin". "the Victory? I've never heard of it. the only mission from your history I'm familiar with is the Javelin."

Kiadan sniffs disdainfully as she flits around the room at top speed, poking and prodding at everything. When it's revealed how dull and unintresting the room is she settles down onto a likely spot and begins typing away at her computer speaking quickly to herself in an excited tone.
As the general eyes her she stops for a moment arching a small draconic eye and then shrugs. "It's of little concern to me. I don't pay attention to things that don't concern me or my research, I have more important things to remember," she says without much preamble and goes back to working at her laptop.

Dragon Eye exhales sharply from his nose, and a small trace of smoke can be seen. "Dr. Kiadan. You would do well to pay attention to what I am saying. I have brought all of you here for a reason."
He turns to the others. "The Rumors are true. Reverse-engineered from captured out of system xeno-tech, the government has neared completion of this solar system's first native starship; capable of faster than light travel, artificial gravity, and even more. Construction is almost complete, and the Assembly is currently fine tuning the command officer list and a few other details. We, by which I mean the Seeronian government and military, are asking you to be part of the mission."

Solaxis steps forward. "excuse me, General, but just what would that mission entail, and in what capacity would you require our services? the more you can tell us, the better."

" Me? On a spaceship?" Balus looked at the general in disbeleif. " All I'd do is get in the way wouldn't I? I'm not trained for anything like that."

"I am paying attention," Kiadan responded shifting her goggles aside with her long draconic prehensile tail. "I've devoted 51% of my attention to your statements, and the other 49% is dutifully working on my experiments." She pauses and looks at the others. "It's really quiet simple when you're a Genius like me," she says in a non to modest tone. Kiadan returns to her typing not bothering to speak but still nodding in time with the conversation, her superior mental abilities able to filter both the conversation and her work as she continues. "If you like when we're done I can replay the entire converstation you'll give us for anyone you ask," Kiadan says as she continues to type. "Invert the carrier wave... hmmmm..."

Strell turns towards the window. "In simplest terms; our analysis of the Tarlok fleet, as well as Tarlok tactics and psychology have lead to a single conclusion: A five year timeline for them to replenish their forces and equipment, and return to Seeron. Except that this time, they will have no intention of conquering the planet. We'll be looking at the destruction of our entire world. And our best projections indicate that we will not be able to mount a defense capable of repelling such an onslaught."
The General turns back to the group. "So, it has been decided that this vessel will journey outside the system to find allies, technology, or some other means of defending our world and repelling the Tarlok. You will be making frequent return trips back to Seeron for supplies, to deliver results, and change crews. You will also occassionally ferry colonists and units off-world if you find suitable unihabited worlds. As with the Javelin mission, we wish to prepare for the worst, no matter how monstrous it might seem."
Dragoneye now looks directly at Solaxis. "From you, a Bhlaze, your knowledge of alien cultures and ability to speak with them. From what we've heard, your species has a reputation we feel we must take advantage of."
He shifts to Kiadan. "And we're hoping we can use your 'great intelligence' to help us decipher any useful military technology along the way."
Finally he looks at Balus. "We're also going to need some security. Especially because the Kesmin has 'generously donated' some of his Epoch Riders to serve for the mission, and will also be providing the Second in command."
Dragon Eye steps back. "It's a voluntary mission, but I want to win your support."

Solaxis nods appreciatively at General Strell, "your assessment seems both accurate and prudent. the Tarlok do not accept defeat lightly. the plan seems sound and wise so I would be honored to assist in such a bold and daring endeavor."

" Okay," Balus thought for a moment," sure, I can handle working security. I'm guessing the captain doesn't fully trust the Riders?" He knew their history.

Kiadan doesn't even bat her tiny draconic eyes as the general praises her. "Well I AM a genius you were right to want me to do something like this," she says immodestly. "Who else but me could you find able to calculate pie out manually to the 9 millionth decimal spot and be absolutely correct?"
Kiadan closes her computer and looks the general in the face, as closely as she can. "I will of course require a laboratory, a powerful computer to try and recalculate my equations, and a nutrient mixer."

Dragoneye smiles as his eyes light up. "Good. Dr. Kiadan, I'll make arrangements for you to speak with the science team. Computing power might be an issue, but most of what you desire should be attainable. In addition, you'll be heading the Xeno-sciences division, so you'll have probably a dozen or so underlings. As for you, Mr. Solaxis, there is an aircar that will ferry you to Assembly Hall. As your position will be non-military, the civilian government wishes to discuss your role and the particulars thereof."
the General goes to his desk. "But first, Solaxis, if you'd care to assist me." He smirks for only a second before barking at Balus. "At Attention, Corporal!" as he opens a drawer.

Balus' heel snapped together with an echo in the small office, his arms at his sides and eyes straight ahead. Just as he'd been drilled to do throughout his training.

"of course", Solaxis replies graciously as he steps forward.
