Sam nods at Marshall and starts to follow him, curious to know what this was about.

Shep nodded to Cabal," Nothing personal, lieutenant. Just trying to help keep you alive. You may want to try a little camouflage, or something." The sergeant nodded," And this old goat should know, he's been out here longer than anyone." Shep scowled," Do you have something to fix?" The sergeant mock saluted as he headed toward the other end of the building," Specialist, don't you have a base commander to go say hello to? Oh, LT, if those crooks in the armory tell you you'll have to leave something for them to take back to Ft. Griggs to be repaired, don't let them. You'll never see it again." Cabal nods, "thanks for the head's up"

With the Death's Head gone, Darryl points out Shep acrossed the compound," There he is. I'm not getting my hopes up for conciere service." He smirked.
In the command bunker, the Major entered his password and a communique from General Sykes came on the veiw screen. " Major, I assume Lt. Fraser has arrived by now. If not, stop this until she and her team arrives. Sam, I know your mind is on your brother, but I have a high priority mission for you. Rendezvous with Norrin to get information on a contact inside Sung's outfit and make contact. We have strong information that Sung has gotten his hands on some sort of pre rifts technology that allows him to control a weapons satellite that is still operational up in orbit. If it is true, it's a major security threat and has to be eliminate. Major Marshall is to provide you with whatever you need and cause no interference. Lt. Norrin can fill you in more. Good Luck." The image faded.
Inside the armory, a surly looking corporal eyed Cabal, looking up from the Cp-50 he was working on." Yeah, what do you want?"

"a patch" pointing to the PSI emblem on his chest, "and unless you want me to make you think the barrel of that weapon is a chili dog and you haven't eaten in a week, a little respect." Cabal growls.

Rhys chuckles at Darryl's comment. "Neither would I" He heads towards Shep waving to him as he approaches. "Yo Shep any luck on finding us some bunks?"

Shep turns, looking passed Rhys and Darryl first before answeing," Don't be yelling my name out and maybe I can duck that twerp until we hit the field. yeah, they've got lots of empties in that one." He motioned to one of the barracks, " Just pick one that the footlocker is open and empty."
" You had better go find some help, Lootenant." the smart mouthed corporal replied as he walked around the counter. " Leave the breastplate with me and I'll have it done by morning."

" You had better go find some help, Lootenant." the smart mouthed corporal replied as he walked around the counter. " Leave the breastplate with me and I'll have it done by morning." Cabal thinks to himself ~way to go. piss off the locals. great start.~ sizing up the corporal, he answers "yeah, leaving the armor's not really an option there. I need it right away, so look, why don't we try this again. just had a long hard flight in, and the way I see it, we can do this any of three ways." "now, me turning your brain into swiss cheese, not that I would have that far to go, just a couple more holes, or kicking your can all over this base and beating you to a bloody pulp isn't really going to solve anything or get my armor fixed, now is it?" "so why don't we try for more of a 'win-win' scenario where we both get what we want? so tell me, what kind of 'incentive' would you need to help me out here? booze? what? name your price for the rush job and I'll see what I can do."

The corporal pushes the rifle aside and wipes his hands on a rag. " Are you at least gonna take it off, or do you want me to tack weld this while you're standing there?" The corporal said, picking up a piece of thin metal and a welding torch. The plate wasn't a perfect fit or match in color, but it would work in a pinch. " Gonna hurt like heck if you don't take it off, Lootenant." He pulled out a half a cigar and began chomping on it, unlit.
" Major Marshall and I go way back." Shep replied, leading Rhys and Darryl down into the barracks. " To make a long story short, when I was his XO back before Ft. Griggs, we had a difference of opinion that when he didn't listen to me, he got our platoon cut to shreds by an ambush. Afterwards, we disagreed again and that ended with me in the stockade and him in a dentist's chair. The demotion was worth it though." He smirked.

I'm thinking 'paint-job'. you telling me that's the best you can do? oh, well, you're the expert. what would a jar-head like me know about ... y'know, say, electro-plated enamel and oh, suffused micro-polycarbonate compounds?" drawing a bit on his Armorer training and throwing in a bit of sarcasm to let the good corporal know he wasn't buying the con job.

The corporal sputtered a bit as he lost the welding gear, and walked over to the corner of the shop, pulling back a curtain. " Since you know about what we use, I'm guessing you know how one of these work." Hidden away was a state of the art programmable automated paint booth. " just try not to go for any outrageous patterns, the detailling program is waiting for a data patch. Should be able to hide that Psi tag easy enough though. And remember it takes five minutes for the hardener to set, so don't try paint all over my shop, LT."

Rhys chuckles as he follows Shep down into the Barracks. "Sounds like you Shep." Heading into a bunk with an unclaimed footlocker he puts stows his gear and started creating his portable mix of electronics gear and Tools from the tool kit.

"bingo! yeah, I think I can figure it out." stepping into the booth, Cabal activates his armor's on-board computer and patches in a data feed using voice commands. "search remote ancillary devices. connect. activate local video feed to tactical HUD. target location, front torso, upper right quadrant. color selection, black pearl. initiate." Cabal waits for the automated sequence to complete and the paint to dry before stepping out and admiring the new look. "spiffy."

Shep shrugged, " Got me busted back to NCO, and I'm happier this way. The General wasn't too impressed. Now if I can just avoid Old FerretFace until we deploy, I'll be happy."
Darryl shook his head, and was about to say something when he paused and coked his ear, " Helicopter coming in."
" You sure, I don't..." the rhytmic whump-whump-whump of helicopter blades began to fill the air. He looked at Rhys, Nutset's got good ears."
" Now you look like the rest of the walking targets out there." the corporal smirked, once again back working at the rifle. " Aren't you lucky."
Both Sam and Cabal could hear the inbound chopper at the same time.

Sam looks up as she hears the chopper, having been lost in her thoughts after watching the transmission. 'That must be Norrin now' she thinks to herself with a smile. 'Maybe I can get some answers'
