Vex got a little longer view of the planet as the ship started to levitate. It wasn't long before the ship was flying forward, and the snow became a long, long blur.
Jessa, on the other hand, had something a little more inspiring to see, if bitter sweet. In a desparate attempt to run the blockade, no less than six transports, and 8 fighters were lifting off in tandem with the Two Left Feet. Only one or two transports, and some X-Wings were left. She could see Skywalker's at least, was there.
Lilith, though, didn't have much to do, as the ship flew.
While Alio moved for a steep angle, Vex could see a couple of walkers in the distance. They weren't heading for the staging point, it seemed.
Soon, one seemed to explod of its own free will.
After a few short minutes, the atmosphere gave way to the blackness of space.
A Star Destoyer loomed ahead.
Tie fighters were pouring out.
"Time to run a blockade," Alio said to the rest of the ship.

The further they got from the ice and snow of Echo Base, the happier Vex got. The cold had caused a dull phantom ache in his biomechanical foot that was constantly there to remind him of his loss. But as they cleared the planet, it was a bit better but the cold vacuum beyond his gunnery station was not much relief. He would have been happier at the helm or if Jessa were there, but that was only because he knew their skills. He did not know the pilot, so he did not have much faith .
How he reacted to the ImpStars looming ahead would soon make up Vex's mind very quickly. Once he was ready to go, he commed in, "So, we going to play nice and just try to run, or mix it up right from the get go?" He turned his guns towards the swarm of TIEs, but did not lock on to any, so he wouldn't tip their hand.

Jessa prepares herself for the potential fight as she waits for the response to Vex's question.

"Oh," Alio said back, casually. "I think we'll mix. All fighters, let's make a path."
Everyone could feel the ship accelerating.
One of the patients looked over at Lilith. "Do you think Captain Alio forgave the Empire, yet, for Alderaan?"

Vex smiled at the captain's response and sat up in his seat. " Well all right, let's have some fun. Jessa, low score buys the first round?" He suggested over his shoulder, shouting up the crawlway to the other turret. He knew he would lose to her marksmanship, but it was a long standing tradition he had to uphold as he lined up his first shots. " At your call, Captain."

Lilith looks to the patient as she holds on from the ship speeding up and defensively dodging its attackers.
"He might, one day." Lilith said. She had to be honest. If someone had blown up her planet she would hate them forever; it was the Zeltron way. "At least, I hope he could. Right now it just seems like a big thing to ask someone who lost everything."

"Well, to be honest," The wounded solder said to Lilith. "I was more worried that maybe he was going to try and get a little pay-back, today."
Punctuating his concern, the engines revved.
"You may fire when ready," Alio said, with a cool voice.
The TIE fighters received the same permission, opening fire on the convoy.

With the captain's say so, Vex bracketed the first TIE and thumbed the firing studs, letting the blasters open up on the incoming fighters. " Come and get it."

"He can get all the payback he wants as long as remembers to take us out of here first." Lilith says. The sounds of the ship going into combat were heartening and at the same time caused her a bit of fear. Nothing says you failed your patients when your ship goes up in a big ball of flames. Still, she puts on a brave face. "Don't worry about that though. We get through this. We always do."

The pilots of the TIE-fighters were taken by surprise at how quickly the rebels advanced on them.
None the less, even as a number of them exploded into very satisfying balls of flame, the fighters pressed through, advancing on the freighters.
"We have to buy those freighters more time," a pilot said, expositionally.
Alio's tactical error became even more evident as the escorts doubled back: the Star Destroyer started firing suppression blasts into the melee. Alio had indeed put the escorts between the imperials and he freighters, just not in the best way.
A hit from the Star Destroyer shook the ship, causing Jessa and Vex to lose their shots while Alio re-aligned.
Lilith's patients were tossed everywhichway as the ship shook.
"We have to buy them more time!" Alio said, dramatically. "Let the fighters take the fighters, we're distracting that cruiser."
The ship lurched as it pointed itself to the cruiser. "Here goes nothing." Alio said, and the ship sped up.

"We're doing what?!?" Vex exclaimed as the ship changed course and caused him to miss what should have been an easy shot. He switched his fire to only pick targets so that misses would still be hits with an ImpSar for a backdrop. "Jessa, I think this guy makes me look sane!"

Vex can hear Jessa's sputtering and cursing when the ship changed course as suddenly as it did and she's knocked off balance, missing a couple of shots. She calls back, deadpanning "And that's hard to do!" Jess then atempts to hit nearby targets.

"Hey!" Vex countered as he swung the turret's seat as he tried to hit another TIE lining up for a run against the freighter. " Stang! Watch our tail, the captain is starting to get their attention. Good thing marksmanship isn't a requirement to gratuate imp flight school."

Vex's and Jessa's harrassment shots seemed to be quite harassing.
The Star Destroyer started focusing its ship-to-ship weapons on the Two Left Feet. The ship shook repeatedly as the cruiser's cannons landed a couple of shots.
"Sorry folks, " the captain said. "We are encountering a little turbulence..."
Alio veered his little freighter towards he underbelly where the big guns couldn't hit them.
From their viewpoints, Vex and Jessa saw a X-Wing explode, and two of the transports disappear into hyperspace. It was unclear where the rest were, but one was left.
They would have found out more, but several shots rocked the ship, causing sparks to fly, and some internal fires.
Some of the soldiers, even the wounded, hopped up to help the poor droids handle the situation.
