I'M confused because you okayed a character that has his flight status rejected after biorecontruction in his foot when he destroyed his last fighter trying to save a squad mate.
Only assuming in speeder because desperate for pilots
Waiting on gm clarification before posting

Even if Vex and Late have no fighter, they wouldn't leave the poor droid lonely in a hanger bay, on the off chance Vex would find him before the Imperials did.
Vex would still have to connect with a ship and Late waiting outside a freighter would have been the best way to help him know which ship. A beacon of familiarity, of a sort, amidst a wave shore of rocky, craggy, stormy chaos.
Likewise for Jessa. He fighter and droid are waiting a staging point, instead of a hanger bay.
