"Time? Time is an electromagnetic vibration - nothing more." He looks like he's about to continue further when the vehicle stops. "We must repair to my lab. Let us see what my old foes are devising this time." He gets out of the car, visibly leaning on the cane for support.

"Fair enough Mr. Tesla. Just say when, and I'll lay out the history of how I became who I am." Seeing Tesla lean on his cane, is about to offer help, then pauses. "I mean no disrespect Mr. Tesla, but can I help?"

"No. No. Mental computation of the electromagnetic vectors is taxing, but still not beyond my ability to recover from. I suppose you wish to know what we face. It is nothing less than annihilation by an interstellar nihilist." Tesla intones. "We face the evil of a man known as Lovecraft."

"Lovecraft...sounds familiar...I don't suppose you have a photo of him?"

Tesla shows you the photo. "He would have you believe he is a humble worker of pulp fictionals. The truth is far more dire. He is the unwitting agent of Armageddon made flesh."

"...well that makes me feel stupid...read some of his works and never saw the subtle clues..."

"Yes...do not open the boxes, but you will see on my electroscope they have a unique field signature. Lovecraft's work at hand." Tesla pauses for a moment. "His master must feed on the brain electromagnetism of sorrow. Dire case indeed." He looks to Rex. "I fear that my detective skills may not be up to this task. Can I trust you to remain in league with me?"

"Sorrow? Unusual given that with the proper equipment and rituals, any emotion could do..." Shakes himself out of the line of thought. "Of course Mr. Tesla. Feeding on emotions isn't the problem I have with this, it's more the fact it doesn't...feel right."

"Then do not trust in feelings. Trust in Science, my young friend. It will serve you far better. Now, help me with the metallurgical analysis of these boxes - we must find their sources with due haste." Tesla snaps his fingers.

In Tesla's lab you see a strange staff with five Tesla coils forming a crown on one end. There also appears to be some kind of suit of armor in the corner and a pair of metal boots.
Your metallurgy reveals that it's an usual alloy of Tungsten, Copper, and Titanium. The patterns on the box do not conform to any mythology or custom Rex has ever studied, however, the purpose of the device is very clear to you - it is some kind of low frequency radio transmitter - ingeniously miniaturized.

Lets out a low whistle, "If the source wasn't an evil bugger, I'd be even *more* impressed. The markings are new to me, at least without doing some more research."

"Profanity has no place in scientific analysis, young man." Tesla hunts. "The Markings are familiar to me as the work of Lovecraft and his insidious minions. We must be cautious. Now, we must examine the evidence to determine the likely source of this latest scheme."
