[dice=100] Hypnosis & Hypnotherapy 119%, penalized at -60% due to the rush (normally takes 4D4 melees, -4% per melee shortened off to a minimum of one melee)
Sighs ejecting the bullet out of the chamber, working the clip out just as smoothly. "If I was a cop, you'd be under arrest. As it is, you two idiots are disrupting my business. I'm a silent partner, and I like to keep it that way. Take the others and go, and I might overlook this transgression by your boss."[rand=2875855276143088877518465628831787587391263316886415921133697542]

The goons quickly flee out the door. Their compatriots performing the robbery, confused by their actions, rapidly follow.

Watching them hurry off, Rex slips the magazine and pistol into an inside pocket, in preparation for the future, fondly remembering one of Colonel Stanson's lessons.
"Rex, it is better to have a weapon, and not need it, than to need a weapon and not have it. But remember, words first, since they rarely harm a man."

Rex, you are in the patent store room as you see the workers moving to get back to normal and waiting on the police.

Rex catches the name on one of the patent files the goons were trying to get - a name unmistakable to anyone with Rex's level of education.
"Patent Author: Nikola Tesla."

Rex neatly folds the patent, and related papers, into a size suitable for an inner pocket [Palming/Concealment] after giving them a quick look [Advanced Elec & Mech].
<Better in my hands than in theirs.> he thinks, making a note to use regular avenues to acquire copies, if not the originals, of Tesla's patented items. <The things I do to protect another inventor.> Shakes his head with a quiet sigh.[rand=4481559754511076479871564747556389623201745125155508242979550482]

Rex understands the electrical workings of the system - it is intended to channel electricity into a rather unconventional motor system, but the mechanical workings are beyond him.
And at this point, police begin to enter the building.

Does his best to slip out of the room, entering the nearest mens' room, proceeds to wash his hands, taking his time as if he just finished, already thinking ahead. [OOC: Caught in the Mens' room, most folks who didn't see the person go in, would think they're coming out, and unrelated]

Rex is able to slip out. It seems the crooks have gotten away as well in the chaos however.

Shrugs, doing his best to look innocent as he leaves the building, already having two leads in his possession; Tesla's patents, and the thug's .45.

Whistles for a taxi, climbing in when one stops, gives the address of his current residence, treating his mind to the scenery more than thinking of what happened (a habit developed from his meeting with the other vigilantes).

Rex, instead of a taxi, a long, black limousine pulls up to your spot. A creaky voice speaks out in an unfamiliar accent. "Get inside, young man."

Curious, but knowing better to jump in without a life line, pauses before approaching the limo to get in, straightening his coat and hat, the former making sure a handkerchief is between the magazine and .45, to keep it from being heard as he climbs in.
