Chapter 34: Mistaken Identities

Avengers Mansion 2:15 AM Three quiet days after returning from the West Coast

“Is that him?”

“Too old”

“Too ugly” *chuckles*

“Smells bad too” *chuckles*

“Crap! Know this one. As grumpy as he smells too. Watch the claws *chuckles* *Bamf*

If the voices had not already stirred Logan, the familiar smell that followed did.

“Hel-lo nurse.” *chuckles*

“Legs for days.” *chuckles* “I’ll catch up.”

“She’s too tall for you.”

“She’s got knees!” *chuckles*

“And she’s already got a man. Go after his girl and he might sue you for false advertising.”

*chuckles*

*Bamf*

“Another one! And purple hair is hot!”

“Any color hair is hot around here” *chuckles*

“When I die, bury me here!” *chuckles*

“Why? Still be dead.”

“But a very happy ghost!” *chuckles*

“Eww. My eyes!”

“Shut up. Not like you don’t watch it on TV.” *chuckles*

“Yeah but don’t know them. She…”

*chuckles* “Shut up before you wake pretty boy. They all beautiful people around here?”

*chuckles* “But not the right one? Hey, check out the frisbee!”

“Leave it be. Let’s go back and ask the boss’s ex.”

“You just wanna watch some more.” *chuckles*

“And?' *chuckles* *bamf*

The intercom in Wolverine's room chimed as the mansion AI activated it. “Good, you are awake Logan,” Jarvis’ faint voice came as he tried to clear his head from the disturbance. “ I am sorry to bother you,  every one is either asleep or… indisposed at this hour, but I
but I am uncertain if I am experiencing a malfunction in my systems. I am picking up random glitches around the mansion in the fire detection and the intrusion sensors throughout the building.”

A shriek came from down the hall , followed by Tabitha waking everyone not already woken by the faint odour of brimstone, “KURT!” Followed by more shouting in the corridor and doors slamming,” WHERE IS HE? I’M GONNA KILL HIM!”

The yelling awakens the Captain immediately. By instinct he grabs his shield and pounces out of his room, dressed only in boxers and T-shirt. "What's going on?"

Blink was hit by the scent of the Bamf and she knew who it might have been. Not knowing the current location of who was 'in the Munich Circus Known as the Incredible Night Crawler', Blink could think of a few places to teleport him to. Like the Captain, she grabbed a compound bow with a bow quiver.

Her instinct to release was suppressed well thanks to Hawkeye. various exercises such as aiming at dripping water helped as well. "Patience, wait for the perfect moment to release," he said. It would seem every Night Crawler was a water exercise away from an explosive arrow.

Since she was up anyway she may as well get breakfast and start her day. It was leg and shooting day.

"Frigging elf." He grumbles getting up, boxers and sleeveless t-shirt on, heads into the hall, claws still sheathed. "Jarvis, just Nightcrawler, a porter."

Seeing and watching Tabitha open and close doors grunts. "He ported in on some intimate time?"

[Mierin]

Notorious for being a night owl, Gabby is spending time with her new AI bestie when she hears Tabitha yelling at Kurt, threatening to kill him. Gabby chuckles to herself as she tells F.R.I.D.A.Y. "That's classic Tabitha." Gabby then quickly throws a bag of microwavable popcorn in the microwave so she has a snack to eat while everything goes down in front of her.

(kitchen)

F.R.I.D.A.Y replied with a laugh, "Your BFF is a drama queen? Ick." As the microwave beeped, the AI continued, acknowledging Felicia first,"Morning Blink, Tabby woke you? Gabs, her yelling at Nightcrawler, the only Kurt I have on file, makes a bit of sense though. While you were in the bathroom, I detected other voices besides yours but didn't see anyone, then my sensors detected movement out of my line of vision, but that was it so I did;'t bother saying anything. Should I have?"


(hallway)

"I'm not so sure Logan, I picked up multiple signals and they moved erratically, unless Mr. Warner brought a guest for his brief visit. I'm not detecting him now." Jarvis replied before Logan stepped to the hall.

Tabitha looked at Steve and was about answer when Logan joined them, followed by Clint. "Not funny Wolvie." Wearing only one of Eric's tee as a nightgown that hung nearly to her knees, she still tugged at the shirttails. "But yes, I looked up and the wrong moment and Kurt was looking over the end of the bed. The jerk was resting his head on his hands like he was admiring the show until we made eye contact and I screamed and he teleported out of there. Where did he go?"

"Must have bounced through my room." Clint said, "I could smell that lovely stink of his when you scared the hell out of everyone. Umm, where is the big guy?"

"He's still in bed." Tabitha blushed a little.

"I'm not sure I understand - Nightcrawler has broken into Avengers Mansion? What could possibly possess him to do such a thing?" Cap looked to Logan. "The X-Men still consider us allies, do they not? I know we've had our differences in the past, and there are valid reasons; we haven't been the friend to the mutant community we should have. I've had recent...discussions on that matter. But that doesn't explain this."

[kurff]

(Kitchen)
"Tabby and the scent of certain teleporters I know. In my own reality, Night Crawler had a bit of a sense of humor now and then. However, it was Morph that woke us up most with a horn sound and green masked face. Something about a movie poster he found the mask?" she shrugs looking for breakfast.

"And as a further mental note, I need to start drinking decaf. I drew out an arrow out of pure instinct. Suppose it is not all bad at least I was trying to be ready." Finding a pair of breakfast-style pizza pops Blink opened and put them in the microwave. As the pops cook she gets Orange juice and with a drink puts down some vitamins.

[Mierin]

Gabby rolls her eyes at her new AI Bestie's remark. "Don't EVEN get me started on how dramatic she can be!" Gabby replies as she grabs the bag from the microwave. "Oh, hot! Hot!" Gabby opens the bag and pours the popcorn into a large bow. When her AI bestie explains she knew there were others in the house, Gabby nods. "Yeah, it'd be good to have a heads up if you detect anything out of the ordinary. It could be a bad guy with some evil thoughts that we need to spank!" Gabby grins and looks for the show to start.

"Drama is overrated. Would you be upset if I teleported Tabby to the moon so the Inhumans could put up with her?" she joked taking a careful bite of one of the breakfast pops, "Oooh hot."

"Wrong moment for him." Tries not to smirk. "Dunno Steve. Could be he brought along a protege, or, heaven knows with our reality hopping adventures, a female Nightcrawler... Now that is something of a scary thought."

[dakota]

(Kitchen)

"You heated it. Of course it's hot."F.R.I.D.A.Y. pointed out before laughing. "Don't send her away, a little drama never hurt anyone. Spend a little time around Stark if you want proof. Do you mean nightcrawler the X-man ? Doesn't matter, it wasn't him I detected. Whoever popped in was too small and there was three or four judging by voice patterns but hard to tell. Sounded like a bunch of horny teenagers too, but they bounced so good riddance. I will make sure I tell you next time, sorry."

(Hallway)

"It was more than one, but I don't think it was him." Erik said as he stepped out into the hallway. "When Tab screamed, I looked up and saw four little faces. Too small to be Nightcrawler, unless he was literally crawling."

Logan's communicard chirped a message from Bobby Drake of all people.

Hey, you close to home? Scott said not to bother you, but We're out of town and the security system at home is picking up intruders.... man, we've got Bamfs. Any chance you can check it out?

"Something important?" Clint asked. "Can you read that thing without glasses? Small font."

"Really Clint? Now?" Tabitha scoffed.

"Have you learned nothing since coming here Tabbycat?" Clint winked as she bristled.

"Cap, do we need him? I Swear no one will find the body." Tabitha scowled, as Clint stepped behind Erik.

Captain America sighed. "Let me assure you, getting ribbed by Hawkeye is an Avengers' rite of passage. I speak from experience." He gave Hawkeye a glance. "But we still need answers about these intruders. Everyone suit up. Perhaps Dr. Foster has information we can use." He went back to his room and quickly put on his uniform.

“Yeah, we’ll have to look into this. As for the small faces, that’s a new one on me. Ah don’t worry about Clint. It’s part of his charm, if you’re willing to call it that.”

[kurff]

"Sounded like a bunch of horny teenagers too? That sounds like kurt." she grinned, "I guess I won't send tabby to the moon. The drama of the Inhumans after they send her back might make Cap pop a rivet in his shield." hearing the call for uniform she wraps up the breakfast pops.

"So much for the down time. Gonna go suit up. Wonder what kind of fun arrows I'll find in the armory?" she grinned as she left. Blink was also curious about if Tony upgraded uniforms as well.
